Senior: I am one term away from finishing my Criminal Justice Degree at Portland State University. I had a really good experience on campus and with the whole criminology program overall. I took many other criminology classes in addition to the required classes and they were all excellent. My favorite instructor was Jason Jones. What a valuable asset to PSU! What I liked the most about the criminology program at PSU was the fact that most of my instructors were actively working in law enforcement, so they are able to tell us what was going on in the Portland area presently and during the Covid pandemic era. I think the biggest thing I would like to see changed is tuition prices. Wow! Does it really need to cost that much to improve your life and contribute to the betterment of society? Junior: The college is great for helping people pursue different career options. You don't have to know what you are planning to do for the future right away. The course planners invest time in making sure that you are comfortable and are able to receive all the help you can get. This school also has options for students that have financial need, have a disability, tutoring, and other needs. CCC also has many extracurricular programs for students to participate in. I found these to be a great option for kids who like to involve themselves within the school. I will also say that the dorms and housing are quite nice. Freshman: I've enjoyed my time at Lane Community College. Most of the teachers have an excellent teaching style, the atmosphere is very welcoming, and they are doing their best to create an inclusive environment for people of all types of abilities. The classes encourage critical thinking and the teachers always seem to be finding ways to better themselves and the curriculum. Campus also has a variety of resources for students, such as a food pantry, clothing closet, therapy, and even a medical center. Overall, Lane Community College is a great choice if you are pursuing a 2-year Associates degree or if you are looking to take transfer credits.
