Junior: I came into Rice as a transfer student this past semester. I'm happy to say I've found a place where I feel completely welcomed and appreciated. This is where I was meant to be. I am academically challenged and my curiosity is constantly mirrored in my classmates/friends. The conversations are fun and the people are genuine. Alum: I loved my professors and program at SMU! The campus is absolutely gorgeous and it's a really good size without being too small or overwhelmingly large. The school is in the perfect location for local restaurants and shops while being 10 minutes away from the nightlife of downtown and the entertainment of the districts. Junior: What I love most about going to Texas Tech are the people I've met there. I've become close friends with cancer survivors, people from halfway around the world, and people who've led protests! Almost everyone there is kind and willing to give you the time of day to just talk if you want. Classes at Tech are also excellent. The professors and instructors do an excellent job of covering material and are usually very patient with the student body. Speaking of which, Texas Tech has helped me to discover my passion for mathematics. Prior to coming here, I used to struggle and fear the topic, but after taking Calculus I've learned that It can beautiful and sometimes wonderfully simple. Senior: Overall, my experience with the University of Houston has been vey wonderful. The staff at the student center are very helpful. One time one of the staff members walked me all the way to the building where my class is being held at. The professors at the University of Houston are very helpful as well, considering that they have 50-100 students in their class. The University of Houston made me feel right at home the first time I showed up for orientation. One thing I would change about the University of Houston would be their parking permit. Senior: Friendly environment with a lovely small town feel. Coming onto campus my freshman year I was very nervous because it was such a huge transition from high school. I was far away from my hometown friends and family in a town that I had never heard of until I applied to Tarleton. Thankfully, I was approached with open arms and quickly made friends. Tarleton has an amazing student organization that host events often to engage with students and keep the spirit of Tarleton alive. What also makes Tarleton so unique is that the president is often seen at various events and loves to talk with students and engage with them. Freshman: This campus feels like a home away from home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, always making sure you are having fun and exploring new and exciting places in Canyon. Senior: I love Texas A&M Corpus Christi because it's such an amazing campus! What makes it so amazing is it's location. I love that it's on it's own island away from the city. The scenery on campus is what makes is great as well. It feels like a vacation with the sounds of the seagulls and the palm trees, which remind you that the beach is near if you need to relax and take a break. I also appreciate the friendly staff. All of my professors have been nothing but caring to the students in their classes. Another thing that makes campus great is the amount of floor plans there are to choose from and the places to dine on campus. If i could change one thing is if islander housing had a better management system. There were always problems with students in my building breaking things, noise, among other things, and staff just brushed it off. Freshman: I love that everyone here was so helpful from day 1. They all made the process really easy and smooth. Whenever I called in or came in person for help getting enrolled, I was guided. I’m an on campus student so I was really pleased that they had a program to match you with a roommate that you actually had something in common with. I love that the campus always has something fun going on for the students and also important things to help us improve such as job fairs on site. The school itself is a little expensive and have lots of fees which require you to get loans/scholarships to be able to pay for everything. Junior: Austin Community College is a great path to higher education. I think it's great for high school graduates because it gives them a chance to grow more first instead of rushing off to university. The different ages and backgrounds of students bring a level of stability that you don't get anywhere else. It's a good place to get your bearings, knowledge, and skills to navigate student life. They now offer bachelor's degrees in computer science too! We often get referred to food pantries and the free public transportation access has been a great help for me. The classes can be much smaller, so you can become more familiar with professors. You can get free tutoring for subjects. The professors have enough time to help you and are understanding. They accommodate disabilities and emergencies. My only complaints would be ACC needs to be expanded and that all campuses could be linked through public transportation to each other. Sophomore: Collin College has been a great stepping stone for me. I have never felt so myself and confident because of how diverse Collin’s environment is. I enjoy going to school and feel that every professor and staff member there wants you to succeed. I really like how inclusive they make the school activities and how it’s free for everyone. I would like to see an even stricter security outside of the school. We do have security inside, but there is not a scanning component at the entrances so anyone is free to enter. Unfortunately, I wonder if that could come back to haunt us. The student council is really good at listening and understanding what is best for us students, so I do have hope that an open conversation could change the security system for the better. Alum: As a graduate of the Texas Southern University Jesse H. Jones School of Business and Honors College, I recommend this institution for all your higher education needs. Most of my professors and advisors were excellent, most of my learning facilities were modern and top notch, and Houston is such an amazing city with so much to explore off campus. The cost of TSU has gone up tremendously so I highly recommend applying to as many scholarships as possible! If you're out of state, I recommend getting Texas residency first for cheaper tuition which is relatively easy to do (do your research). Also the cost of living near campus has gone up tremendously so I highly recommend finding a roommate who has a lot in common with you to help lower the cost ... Iiving alone can be costly. If you can't seem to find a roommate with a lot in common with you, just find a STEM major. STEM majors usually spend a lot of time doing school related stuff ... barely see or hear from them....
