Alum: When I applied to UNT as a graduate student (my second graduate degree), I was a bit worried about the rigor of the program because my previous two universities were much higher ranked. I was so surprised! I absolutely loved my time at UNT; beautiful and safe campus, knowledgeable and friendly professors, and the rigor of my coursework was actually better than my previous degrees. When I mentioned that I was enrolled at UNT, I would often hear how people who had done their undergraduate degrees at UT Austin or A & M College Station had gone on to complete masters degrees at UNT and “loved it!” I couldn’t agree more. Also, this school gives fantastic merit scholarships! I was shocked that I ended up paying half the expected tuition each semester. Junior: Texas Woman's University is an amazing school. I am a nursing student at the Houston campus. I have learned so much in my short time attending. I have only spent a semester at TWU and I absolutely love it. The professors are very knowledgeable and they are really good at teaching and making lectures engaging. The professors have been nice, understanding, and very professional. Although the content they teach can be difficult, they deliver it in a way that is easy to understand. They really let you know their expectations from the beginning and it sets you up for success in their classes. Even after our first exam, some of the students that struggled with the first exam had one on one meetings with our professors to see what areas the student needed help with. Which I think is very helpful! The student life center at TWU Houston is absolutely my favorite. They really do care about the students. Junior: Great University. I can only speak in my experience attending UNT's College Of Business and the instructors I engaged with. All considered tuition here is more affordable than most, pair that with highly qualified instructors I saw in classrooms, Id say you GET the most bang for your buck and then some. I was lucky enough to enroll just as the University completed construction of a new COB building. A hugely upgraded facility from what I expected, lucky timing I suppose. Most importantly I truthfully enjoyed attending class, regardless of how hard we partied on Fry St. the previous night. NEVER imagined myself saying those words before attending this University. Tuition is relatively a "bargain" because the Dollar: IQ received ratio is excellent! My major was business; our building was brand new, and the professors I thought were brilliant.... Alum: I spent two semesters at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus to get my Associates of Science. My instructors were almost all excellent, very understanding, and helpful, with the exception of a single online course I took (it was essentially a weekly assigned reading and essay with minimal teacher interaction). There are abundant resources on campus for students, with tutoring and dedicated help centers separated by subject. The extracurriculars were also fun. I got involved in the school's math club, music club, and philosophy club (Pi club, NW Music Association, and Plato's cave). It being a community college, the clubs were relatively small (5-10 people), which made it feel much more personal. The campus also has a gym and pool that are free to use, which was VERY awesome. The cafeteria is a bit lacking, being a Subway and some vending machines, so definitely bring a lunch. Sophomore: Overall, my community college was and still is an amazing experience! All of the professors that I've had throughout my years of being enrolled in the institution were always very professional and helpful when it came to students needs while taking their course. Every professor went above and beyond to make sure I grasped the different subjects that were discussed if I ever at one point lacked any understanding. Not only are the professors very reassuring but all the rest of the staff such as financial aid advisors, counselors and security as well. Currently, I'm enrolled in the downtown location and although, all classes are now online when I did actually take my classes on campus, I felt very secure and safe 24/7/. Sophomore: Collin College has been a great stepping stone for me. I have never felt so myself and confident because of how diverse Collin’s environment is. I enjoy going to school and feel that every professor and staff member there wants you to succeed. I really like how inclusive they make the school activities and how it’s free for everyone. I would like to see an even stricter security outside of the school. We do have security inside, but there is not a scanning component at the entrances so anyone is free to enter. Unfortunately, I wonder if that could come back to haunt us. The student council is really good at listening and understanding what is best for us students, so I do have hope that an open conversation could change the security system for the better. Overall, that doesn’t stop me from attending. I go to a technical campus and my professor has compared the work between her university students and us community college ones.
