Freshman: Sheridan technical is a great school. Most of my friends have studied there and told me that the teachings at the school is very impressive. They offer certificates and degrees in various fields of studies. I am going to be majoring in Information Technologies and my advisor has been awesome. She has made the registration process so easy and has been very helpful. Personally I would recommend this college to anyone, especially now that we are living in a day and age where a bachelor degree is not needed for most careers. Sophomore: Florida Gateway College is a great school! There are so many activities and options open for a student. There are always events going on and the professor comes to the activities, even when they start during your class time. The professors are great teachers, in the short amount of time you get with them, you get to them know them and they get to know you. There is associability between the library, student center, and student success center. You can study, do homework, find tutors, and even make new friends! Florida Gateway is a wonderful public college that I have enjoyed, the advisors are so friendly and helpful. I recommend FGC to all my friends looking for a great college to go to, I know the big named schools like UF and FSU are places that everyone wants to go but FGC is an amazing environment and their options for classes and degrees are wonderful as well. Senior: It's a wildly diverse school, both for high school and college students. While school hours overlap for the two groups, college and hs students rarely interact, and it's encouraged we don't interact at all. There's good financial support and many classes to aid those with sensory disabilities and a few ESOL classes too. You can tell the teachers really care about their students. No athletic department or dorms, since it's simply a technical college. They prepare you for a job straight out of schooling, though, and there are apartments and houses all over the area. The food is FANTASTIC, the culinary program makes all of the food fresh every day, and they hire experienced people to help with said food. Alum: Chipola College offered an escape from the hellish nature of high school. I began my journey here during my junior year. As a dual enrolled student, I needed a flexible schedule. I was able to take classes early in the morning and late in the evening. I attribute much of my success to the thoughtfulness of my professors. My high school was failing to teach me what I needed to know. Then, I attended Chipola and finally felt like I was being reasonably prepared for life beyond the small town I inhabited. Senior: I have enjoyed my experience so much at Gulf Coast State College. The professors are all so nice and helpful, with very well designed courses. Sophomore: One of the first things that drew me to TCC was its size. The classes are smaller, averaging around 30 students. It's much more personal than a university and it's made finding a community and accessing help much easier for me. My development of relationships with my professors has also gotten much better. They actually have time to meet with and counsel me instead of being swamped with 100 students a class. It's amazing. A few things I would like to see change include the upkeep of the campus. It's a bit dated. It almost feels like a time capsule back into the 90s which might be nice for some. However, they have started some excellent renovations in one of the student halls next to the bookstore which is promising. It would also be nice if the Financial and Cashiers offices showed more hospitality and kindness to their students. Attitudes there can often be bland and unconcerned. Sophomore: The faculty are very kind and there are plenty of things to do at the college, events that take place, and clubs to join. For instance, there is free tutoring available at all times at the library which really helps me when I'm struggling with math! Also there was an event a few days ago where you are able to donate blood so that was super neat! I got a $25 dollar gift card from it! There was also a credit union company which was allowing free sign ups and offering help to students who need help with finances. They have a program/club called Women on the Way which is free to sign up and you get benefits like free clothing and scholarship opportunities. Freshman: The LPN program i’m in is very challenging, as well as fast-paced, however, i appreciate that my education is being taken seriously by the professor, who does her absolute best to make sure her students gain as much knowledge and insight as possible. Sometimes it feels like punishment with her assigning what us students would call “busy work” but she’s only properly preparing us for what we are gonna have to face as nurses, and i greatly appreciate her for doing so. Sophomore: Great affordable school! I started dual enrollment classes in 2018 when I was a sophomore in high school. By the time I graduated high school, I had earned half of my AA degree. That huge jumpstart allowed me to complete my degree at 19. Although registration and other resources can sometimes be a bit of a mess, the courses and many of the professors are great. Graduate Student: The professors were excellent! I had many that engaged with their students, always ensuring the class was on everyone's level while also going at a pace where everyone understood the assignment.
