As an undergraduate English Philosophy Pre Med Major whose now a Pediatric Psychiatrist, I would love to do it all again. When I occasionally go back to campus I love perusing the bookstore stacks to see what kids are reading these days in the disciplines. Senior: Fantastic experience thus far. I have transferred from a lackluster institution and Purdue blows it out of the water. Academics within the Polytechnic Institute have been both challenging but rewarding to pursue by yourself--or better yet with others! Campus is beautiful and is rapidly expanding upon but more housing is needed on campus and by West Lafayette (thankfully downtown Lafayette is a great off campus place to be). Opportunities no joke pop up everyday due to the connections and reputation has for its students. And nearly everyone is both kind and helpful in every aspect of your academic career. Sophomore: I completed my first year at Rose-Hulman during the 2022-2023 academic year. Overall, it was a great experience. Rose is a smaller college with a tight-knit community. The academics are engineering-focused and challenging. There are three 10-week quarters each year with an additional 11th week of final exams at the end of each one, as well as an online-only summer quarter. This means the classes are fast-paced, but resources like professor office hours and the Learning Center tutoring program make it doable. Junior: When I first transferred to Trine University, I was not sure of what I would expect. After spending a few weeks at Trine, I felt at home. The professors here don't just care about academic success, they also care about your wellbeing outside of the classroom. I constantly have professors check in on me everyday and it truly makes my day. Professors offer to have lunch with students instead of being cooped up in their office during those lunch hours. Students are not rude to each other here. They hold doors for others, offer meal swipes, and offer a lot of tutor help. The buildings are always kept pretty clean. The academic rates of graduation here are very high and about 99-100% of students in my major have graduated and gotten jobs right after school.
