Sophomore: St. Philip’s is an amazing college. With its roots, as a historically black and hispanic college, they make all students feel welcomed and appreciated. As a veteran, I was nervous to step foot on a college campus as I was just familiar with my ship-life in the Navy. Although, with their incredible veteran advisors, amongst other resources, my education experience has been nothing but phenomenal. Sophomore: My name is Karen Fisher and I have been attending Dallas College since 1995 and I have had nothing but the best experiences while attend here. If there is anything that you do not understand there are so many people here with a wealth of knowledge that is willing to share. There is also, a great support system available and accessible to utilize if needed. I have also attended Cedar Valley Community College and it has the same attributes. Other: Matthew McConaughey hosted a live event in April where he asked “what are the monsters under your bed?” Monsters under your bed are those things that keep you comfortable in your bed and asleep like you’re supposed to be but they also hold you back. DEFEAT every monster you have under your bed and maintain motivation to be the better version of yourself. CHCP, from instructors to your fellow classmates, offer encouragement and guidance. I receive calls from the wonderful staff at CHCP just checking in to see if I need additional support. There are so many resources and opportunities here. I hope everybody conquers the monsters under their bed cuz here you most certainly can! Freshman: I like that I'm able to get an accelerated education. There are also parts of the class dedicated to preparing us for interviews. The course workload is on campus and online. Alum: loved it. It is a fun experience to learn new things you didn't know before, also they have plenty of programs to offer so you won't have to be confused or discouraged about picking what you wanna do because there are plenty of options to choose from. They also are able to work around your schedule so they are very flexible when it comes to your work life or even your parenting life if you have children or if you take care of someone they are able to fit the classes into your schedule.
