Senior: Overall, my experience with the University of Houston has been vey wonderful. The staff at the student center are very helpful. One time one of the staff members walked me all the way to the building where my class is being held at. The professors at the University of Houston are very helpful as well, considering that they have 50-100 students in their class. The University of Houston made me feel right at home the first time I showed up for orientation. One thing I would change about the University of Houston would be their parking permit. Freshman: There’s many thing to love to about St. Philip’s College! From the people, experience, studies, student life, and outside of St. Philip’s Campus. There is many people from many cultures and places that is meant to be for everyone. The studies aren’t as wide but are for those who need a degree in a year or two to work. Including the great opportunities like CNA, Cyber security, and mechanic jobs. Including possible certification after the degree plan. The student life page and alerts provide great details about events that will take place in campus, zoom, and other opportunities for college or jobs. My most favorite event is culture feast which is full of foods, people from the college or around town, and can be a called a small San Antonio experience in one place. Freshman: This campus feels like a home away from home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, always making sure you are having fun and exploring new and exciting places in Canyon. Most of the professors I have encountered are really charismatic and humorous; they make classes exciting and enjoyable even when you have one at 8:00 am. The campus itself is beautiful with lots of places for relaxation and hang outs. It is currently undergoing some new developments which will make student living a lot more reliable and dependable. If you do not have a car, it is a little difficult to venture out and explore what Canyon has to offer, as well as the food on campus can sometimes get a little repetitive with the most common foods being pizza and burgers. Freshman: When first enrolling, I thought the campus was huge! But after going through the tour, and learning about the information on each floor and room, I really started to see how the campus was just right. Not overly huge, but also not as small to mistakenly think of the university as a community college. I also mistakenly thought how I would go through my 4 years of college experience without any friends, but I am glad to state how my assumptions were proven wrong! Every professor I attended would assign their students to a group for the entire semester, so once mid-terms would come around the corner, I find myself having a good handful of friends in each class I attended from that assigned group. As for group, clubs, and others, the campus is always making sure that a student can connect with a team - so always expect an email or two regarding a list of clubs or groups that that campus think fits your personality/character/academic achievement and whatnot.... Sophomore: Coming to Texas A&M University-Texarkana didn’t feel as overwhelming as my first college was. I like that it’s in my city, and how small the campus is. Though the campus is small, it is still a four year university and has a great size for the fields of study that students can choose from.
