Senior: College of the Ozarks is a working college, which means tuition is completely free. I gave this school a 4/5 because no college is perfect. It is difficult to juggle 15 hr work weeks, 15+ credits, attend mandatory convocations and chapels each semester, and also be involved with the community in your dorm, on campus, and the surrounding area; however, the benefits far outweigh the difficulties! Graduating debt-free is truly priceless, and the teachers and work supervisors I had there were exceptional. Graduate Student: Evangel University provides an excellent atmosphere for community, proficiently enhancing academic and spiritual growth. In a day and age of increasing moral confusion, this campus offers a solid promotion and teaching of the Truth, both in the classroom and in chapel. It is truly a blessing getting to be at a college with professors who care about their students and are even willing to personally pray with them after class. Most importantly, students encounter the freeing, powerful, supernatural Presence of the Holy Spirit, especially at events such as Spiritual Emphasis Week. Senior: If you're looking for a Christ-centered community, dedicated professors who truly care about your wellbeing, an education that will prepare you for your field, and friends for life--look no further. Southwest Baptist University was an answer to prayer for many, including me. There has been a bit of drama recently regarding the school board etc., but that did not stop me from learning and growing exponentially in my time there. It's bittersweet finishing up my last semester, as I realize I'm saying goodbye to the place where I've made so many memories, while diving head-first into the mission field it's prepared me for. Also, it's been said they "give out scholarships like candy" and I didn't have to take out a single student loan. Private universities don't have to cost you an arm and a leg! Go for it!... Sophomore: I really enjoy Central! The professors are incredibly patient and take time to thoroughly explain the subject. Everyone is incredibly nice and friendly. Academics and athletics are very important here. The only complaint is accessibility issues since our campus is made of several historical buildings. Freshman: What is there not to love? I mean I moved to the south from Indiana in hopes of going to seminary in person, needless to say I was not able to. So living here in Oklahoma I started to survey the internet to see whether or not there happened to be a proper theological seminary that allowed students to study online and work that way. One of my favorite non-Bible books is 'Lectures To My Students'. Any one person that has spent reading Spurgeon in depth typically falls in love with the jolly old fellow for the same reasons; he had such an amazing ability to stretch the imagination with his words. As best as I can describe the book is the closest thing you could have to having our elder brother Charles actually teaching us in seminary. So when I came across 'Spurgeon College' my curiosity was peaked. As it turns out, they do not teach the art oof smoking a cigar, or give you resources on how to grow a fuller beard, HOWEVER they do have Spurgeons Library! I would write more but I can't.... Alum: Calvary's a great school - I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees here. I first came in 2013, and when I first attended, there were some culturally legalistic issues that affected campus life - things like strict dress codes, poor discipline methods, and a general attitude towards students that treated us like children instead of adults. I stayed for the education, which is really, really excellent - especially the counseling, business, and theology departments. By the time I finished up at Calvary (2021ish), the school had come a dramatically long way in being more grace-filled and discipleship-focused, and much of that old legalism that has characterized so many Christian higher-ed spaces has melted away.... Freshman: I have loved Ozark and I still continue to go there. Ozark is a home to me and although there are downsides there are a lot of positives. If you go to Ozark you will find amazing professors who genuinely care about you like no other and people who love you. Although some of the downsides are that you cannot live off campus until you are in your 20s, married, or live with a guardian and with being kicked out during all breaks if you want to work in Joplin full time that can be difficult. Another downside is if you are an international student paying your way through and your visa only allows you to work at the school the school pays minimum wage and you can only work up to 20 hours a week scheduled. Junior: It is a small campus college with all of the amenities needed for a good college experience. The teachers are accommodating to all students and are willing to help in any way. I have enjoyed my time there and made a few friends. There are lots of interesting people you can meet as well from all over the country, and even from other parts of the world. The food is great and you don't have to walk very far to get anywhere on campus.
