Sophomore: A lot of great Professors and resources, but the college success seminar that's mandatory is not very helpful, and the advisors are overworked. Most of the students here are kind and the Grayslake Campus is pretty nice. They got new chairs this past year and they're great! There are a lot of places that could be added onto the tour that they do, because I remember going on one and I didn't know that they had study rooms and music practice rooms until my 4th semester here.... Freshman: It is a pretty great school. Especially since I will be taking Culinary. I enjoyed the amount of dedication the teachers provided in order to ensure my education and learning is pursued. Therefore, I believe that this school was my best selection. Since transferring, I enjoyed being in this school especially the scenery of being in downtown Chicago. Freshman: For starters; the Palos Hills Campus is beautiful; with impeccable landscaping and scenic views…It’s better than your average 2 yr college. This location has a lot to offer in regards to student life and the staff seemed professional and friendly for the most part! I got a late start in the registration process but I was able to navigate fairly easily to get started on time for the fall semester. The college is diverse when it comes to the student enrollment, and as a minority student, I didn’t feel any bias concerning race etc. The staff especially in the Liberal Arts Department, which is my field of study…was very kind, and helpful. In regards to the things I didn’t like?…I wish they had dorm rooms so I could live on campus Lol! But the staff in the bookstore seemed a bit rude and disorganized! There were only two lines open and our cashier left her station leaving us hang out in line as other students in the other line were served before us. Overall, I would recommend. 2 thumbs up.... Sophomore: Many people have there thought about a college or university and just like everyone else I had mine. I thought that college was not going to be anything like high school when it came to how the teachers care about you and for you. Graduate Student: As a former Triton College student, I can honestly say most every professor I had was very connected to their area of teaching. I had a special connection with most professors, given that a lot of the classes I took were connected to my intended transferring major. One of the things I love about the school was the buildings. Mostly all the building are connected by a glass corridor that displays the school beautifully. It was honestly a really good view first thing in the morning. It made for a good rest of my day! One thing I would change about the school, would be the involvement of students. As a former work study student, we see tons of students roaming the school without anything for them to focus their minds on. Alum: SWIC Community College is a great place to go for higher education while being able to save money. Plus, many of the teachers have, or do, taught/teach at Universities, so you're basically getting the same level of education elsewhere but cheaper! Plus, there are a variety of classes, trainings sessions , sports, and degrees to choose from. This college is also situated across the street from a variety of businesses such as Walmart, YMCA, and various fast food restaurants (which is an essential college amenity). This college felt like the perfect transition from high school into the realm of higher education. It definitely squashed the mental burden that Universities tend to impose on new incoming students and adults.
