Freshman: This college is good for people looking to save money but still get all of the required classes done so they can succeed with their full potential at other colleges. Overall the college remains clean and there are great people to connect with if you can approach and talk with people. The food is ok in the cafeteria but i would recommend against it most of the time unless you are trying to stay on campus. The classes are small most of the time and are better if you go in person rather than online learning, the online learning feels disconnected and is not easy to get things fixed in a timely manner when you run into issues online. In person the professors are really nice and easy to get along with while helping you reach your goals. Overall the environment at the north campus is great except for the outdated areas of the campus with a lot of construction going on most of the time so they can get everything updated. Junior: Delhi has an extremely small student body, which creates an environment with small class sizes. This allows for students to get a more intimate educational experience, and assists in building relationships with faculty, peers, and anyone else who contributes to the SUNY Delhi culture. Senior: I was immediately attracted to Alfred State the moment I stepped onto campus for its size. It is small but not too small. The class sizes are perfect. The professors are able to give you more personal attention than a lot of friends receive at other colleges. The professors at Alfred State want you to succeed and will help you achieve your goals. The support of my professors has given me more confidence in myself. There is always something to do at Alfred State. Fall and football is my favorite time of year. The team seems to unite the entire campus. There are many sports teams, clubs and general campus activities to participate in to meet new people and develop new friendships. The dorms are comfortable and are currently undergoing refurbishment, and the dining hall is top notch! There is something for everyone. Freshman: I came to Rockland Community College as a reverse transfer student after bad experiences at my previous 4-year university - and I could not be happier! I was instantly accepted by everyone, and the students are very supportive of one another. I have never met such an inclusive and diverse group of people. For a community college, I believe that the education I have received so far has been superb. Instead of memorizing a book, we are asked thought-provoking questions and I leave all of my classes inspired. I could not have asked for a better group of teachers. Freshman: I'm an incoming Freshman at Hudson Valley Community College, starting later this month. I visited the school out of curiosity for their new Welding Technologies associate degree program. I found the campus and all the services offered to be great. The Welding lab, including the Virtual Welding equipment was excellent and well set up. By the end of my visit, I knew that I wanted to attend this school and I applied immediately. I will be able to really increase my welding skills and be better prepared for my career. The college made the application and registration process very easy, with most things taken care of online or by email. This helped tremendously since I have a full-time job and wasn't able to visit or call the school during my workday. Once I start my classes I'll change my working hours to part time so that I can both focus on my studies and take part in some of the campus activities. I am very excited to begin!... Sophomore: At first I found it hard to adapt to their style of teaching and the community but as I got to know everyone around especially from a local church in Jamestown that is when I started to really enjoy being in Jamestown. Freshman: Staff, very welcoming, friendly that sort of deal. Campus is pretty easy to navigate, feels like walking 2-3 neighborhood blocks. All the professors I dealt with were super approachable, reasonable with deadlines, and they were really cool to talk to. You should definitely explore the local area in your free time and make friends with upperclassmen so that they can show you around. Loads of activities going around campus, community movie nights, sports games, sledding in winter to name a few. The hot food is GREAT 95% of the time but they have loads of other options too so you'll too disapointed in your dinner. Sandwich station? Life saver on those nights and just a good lunch in general. Our classmen are really friendly so if you ever feel lonely look around for a group and ask to join in to whatever they're doing. They'd love to accommodate you. Sophomore: Equine program is great! Make sure to find the right group of friends! Professors are mostly understanding, scheduling is tough when you don't have a good advisor. Take as many courses in high school before school and get geneds out of the way asap! Study hard and use the library you get some many free opportunities and things available.
