The school's name alone boasts prestige and prominence, as so many Nobel Prize winners, presidents, and successful businesspeople hail from the university. To be a part of this community, one that fosters community support as well as a push to strive for self improvement and global impact, has been incredibly motivating and exhilarating for me. Alum: Barnard is very unique, as it’s an undergraduate college of Columbia University (yes, that makes it an Ivy League) but also a tight-knit women’s college. The Columbia Daily Spectator calls it “the only women’s college in the Ivy League.” Lots of recruited athletes at Columbia can go to Barnard instead of CC (Columbia College). A lot of friends were recruited CU athletes at Barnard. It’s also different from other women’s colleges because it feels like a women’s dorm at Columbia. It’s sooo integrated and feels co-Ed! The leaders of most Columbia clubs are Barnard women tbh. It can be annoying to constantly explain to people that Barnard is 100% integrated with the other schools at CU though. The internships at Barnard are INSANE. I was a history major and got internships at top investment banks, big tech companies, famous TV shows and more. Junior: To start, living on my own in the city has been an authentic experience that has helped me grow as a young adult, taking on new responsibilities and meeting different people! Junior: It's been great so far! The campus is always overflowing with people, there are a lot of opportunities to connect with others and lots of fun events. Junior: I have loved my time here at Seton Hall! Since my first tour, I felt welcomed and a part of the campus community immediately. The sense of community at SHU is genuinely a game changer- I have met so many people from different majors, states, and even countries! One of my favorite things about Seton Hall is the academics here. Alum: Fordham as a Biology major is a very different experience than that of the Business School, they did prepare us well in terms of courses required to apply to graduate medical programs. However, I recall begging professors to open more class sections for the most basic courses (human anatomy and phys) required for schools. They underestimated how many students needed to complete these basic science courses in order to be eligible for graduate programs. Further, they proposed we take Biology and Chemistry at the same time our first year so we “required less overall credits to graduate.” With labs and other courses, I ended up having way more than the amount of credits required anyways, thus negating the appeal of taking both at the same time in the first place. It was a “weeding out” process. When I asked for help, my advisor stated I was “not serious enough to pursue medicine,” but I sought out my own advisor, and here I am now! En route to PA school.... Alum: Overall, I felt that William Paterson University was an exceptional institution for my undergraduate career. For a student who feels more comfortable in smaller, community-based institutions, like myself, WPU is a great choice. There are many opportunities for students to get involved in including Greek Life; D3, club, and intramural sports; musical ensembles; and a plethora of clubs. The location is about 35 minutes away from NYC and is located within the trees, making it available for many types of terrains based on what you prefer. I personally really enjoyed my time within the Psychology Department at WPU. All professors were extremely helpful and were very passionate within their fields. Sophomore: Currently a sophomore student at Queens College and it is great so far! There are lots of clubs & activities to do on campus, internship opportunities, very fun social events from time to time. The drama program is excellent, offering plenty of performance opportunities to work with professionals in the theater world. The professors are all very passionate about what they do. Sophomore: Hofstra university is a excellent school that provides a person with experience and an above average education. The professor are caring people who know you by name and appearance. Junior: All of the students and faculty are extremely kind and considerate. The professors give a stimulating amount of work and will accommodate to your needs so long as you tell them your situation. Something that I would change is the advertising of clubs and organizations on campus to make them more well known, my first year I wasn’t a part of any organizations because I didn’t know what the university offered. Now I am a member of a club and an officer of an organization and I love it! The head of student affairs is incredibly generous, and the others officers and I work well together. Junior: I love Drew! The campus is in a great, safe town! I’ve always felt safe walking around at night. The community here is amazing as well! Freshman: After finishing my first year as a freshman, I'd say that St. John's University is a top level amazing school. The environment of campus is perfect, you have a wide open great lawn surrounded by buildings of all varieties. HUGE diversity, you get to meet people from all over the country! Even though St. John's is a catholic school, they have a church is for all religions. Residence Halls are set in a village like area, all having different names and surrounding locations like the Montigoris Dining Hall and Public Safety. Dorms in the residence halls have their own setup, whether it's a suite or traditional, double room or single room. Speaking of Public Safety, I feel safe being on campus. They have guards at each gate and are on the scene if something goes down. Food at the dining hall is amazing, they have a different varieties of food, such like Grill and Hibachi. Senior: I have been at Saint Peters for the last 3 years and I am currently going into my senior year. I've had many good memories and experiences. What I loved the most was the small campus. I am able to make many friends. Saint Peter also allows me to be able to have a connection with my professors and advisers. Since classes are small I am able to get the need I need with my education. I also love how many of my textbooks are for free if needed since I am in the STEM apartment. But there are changes I would love to see. Since it is very small it can get very boring. Sophomore: University of Bridgeport is an excellent school in terms of curriculum, faculty, and, of course, the radiant and huge campus. This school is also very much suitable for international students, considering I am an international student and I fit it in very nicely, just as other students from over 30 countries who were with me during the Fall '21 intake.
