Senior: There are many things I love about southern miss! My personal favorite is the setup of campus - I'm a very directionally challenged individual, and even I could navigate the campus after a short time. The campus offers a variety of places to eat, study, and participate in extracurricular events. My favorite places are the Payne recreation center and the Cook Library. Of course, there are some downsides. I disliked the credit hour cap each semester - why can I take 19 credit hours but not 20? Why do intercession courses count toward the full session? While that has yet (and, hopefully, never will) affected my degree progress, I have had several friends and classmates who took a long time to graduate because they were only allowed to take up to 6 classes a semester. Freshman: I liked that the community college itself is well organized just like other institutions are having three different campuses of the same college. It's school that is not very expensive and makes a great start to earning any sort of degrees in particular. They also have technical programs that many students can be involved in to have prior experience of working in the field of their desired occupation they want to go for. Colin also works hand to hand with many financially supportive organizations and programs in which they offer a lot of assistance to any student's needs throughout college. Colin also does a lot of community events as well, along with different fairs that would include Job fairs, College fairs, and even Career fairs in which students can learn more about their major in college. Alum: I attended the Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College. The main campus is located about 45 minutes away in Goodman, Mississippi. Holmes in Ridgeland is a great school. The teachers and employees at the school seem genuinely happy to be working with students of all ages and backgrounds. There is an array of different education opportunities, including trades, provided at the college. Scholarships as well as work-based learning opportunities are available for students, whether first-time or non-traditional. The cafeteria is well-stocked with both hot and cold food options available morning and afternoon. There are vending machines in each building. The campus is beautiful and well maintained. There is landscaping and sidewalks throughout. The offices are easy to find and staffed fully. The professors offer normal office hours and seem to be willing to help. Alum: I loved my time at Mississippi Delta. It's a small campus, so it's easier to get to know people. The instructors are willing to work with you and really care about you. They are also very knowledgeable about their subjects. Their website is very easy to navigate, and they use canvas so you can always see your grades and homework assignments. They also host all kinds of activities for students. The campus is nice, and they are currently taking on new building projects to make it even nicer. It is also a very diverse campus with various groups being represented. Not to mention, it is also way cheaper than attending a university.
