Junior: DigiPen Institute of Technology has a very inclusive and diverse population. Everyone is so unique and different in their own ways and yet, everyone is so accepting of each other. The student body and professors there don't exclude anybody and work together to build each other up and help everyone be the best person possible. I'm a BFA major and before coming to this school I was shy to voice my opinions and be who I really am. The encouragement from my peers and professors has been amazing, I have never been so outspoken or confident in myself, in my life. I feel listened to and understood in DigiPen. The majors are curated well to help you get into the line of work you want, while also showing you what that specific industry will be like before you join the workforce. My freshman year the school fell under scrutiny for crunch culture. Sophomore: Instructors, staff, and administrators are all really helpful at Lake Washington Institute of technology. I started taking classes for one program in 2018, and then switched to two other programs in 2022, and for the entire time I've been attending classes there, I've always received a lot of support. The college is very inclusive and you really get the feeling everyone there is on your team and wants you to succeed. There is help for any student, and where to get help is shared regularly and widely across the campus. They also strive not only for their own sustainability as a college, but to instill sustainability practices throughout the college in all staff and students. Sophomore: I have taken mostly science courses at Shoreline Community College, the best part of which has been the amazing teachers! The small class sizes have given me the opportunity to work one-on-one with professors that have doctorates in chemistry, anatomy and physiology, cellular biology, and microbiology. When I say that I leave every single class with new information, I mean it. No exaggerations. As far as change goes, I would love to see the buildings and equipment get some much needed updates. Our microbiology lab caught on fire this last quarter and we lost our microscopes, lab coats and goggles, in-person class time, and so much more. Sophomore: I really like Highline. Highline strives to celebrate diversity among their students. Highline is the most diverse community college in Washington and the faculty encourages everyone to share their differences. I feel safe at Highline and there are many people I can reach out to for help and resources. Many people to build connections with and even learn from! Highline is very inviting to all student. Highline also has lots of different organizations and groups, great for first generation college students, hobbies, and people of color! Sophomore: I have had a great time at Olympic College. Although I attended school prior, in 2018, I came back for a new degree path, and they were very helpful and understanding to accommodate me. Sophomore: From my last two years of attending Bellevue College, I've found my time to be enjoyable! The campus is easy to navigate and provides lots of outdoor space. They provide a bus stop right in front of the college, making transportation very simple. Most of the staff I've interacted with are kind and helpful, encouraging diversity and safety. I think Bellevue College could improve at promoting social interaction among students since there is a lack of social events and active club groups. Freshman: Cornish offers a great opportunity for those interested in performing arts. The small teacher-to-student ratio enables one to get more personal attention. There's a lot of crossover between majors, such that I can try other artistic endeavors I am interested in. The dorm rooms are big and come with their own microwave and fridge. I have made some wonderful friends within a supportive environment. My one area I'd like to see improved is the food.
