Sophomore: The student organizations, resources for students, and variety of courses is incredible. Every day I discover a new opportunity for professional and personal growth and the resources for mental and physical health are phenomenal. The fitness centers on campus have classes, personal training, and top notch equipment. There are so many ways to get involved and a club for EVERY interest, both personal and professional. My only complaints are that the advisors can be hit or miss. Some advisors are incredible and give you a breath of information and provide you with a ton of resources but some advisors left me with more questions than answers. Some of the professors are amazing and passionate and the reason why I changed my major to economics. On the other hand some professors were so incredibly bad that I changed my major to something outside of their discipline. Alum: UGA is definitely a large, State University which was a fit for me since I was unsure as to what career path I was initially interested in. So many choices! But it gets much smaller and intimate over time as you get through the core classes and begin to specialize. I joined a fraternity while I was there, but you certainly don't need to be a part of Greek life to find a multitude of social opportunities. It's very easy to make friends at UGA. The sports are amazing and the academics continue to strengthen as the years go by. There really aren't any obvious weaknesses to discuss. The only thing I will say is that the number of students is stressing the available infrastructure in terms of parking and housing. If UGA will focus on increasing the number of dorm rooms and parking spaces then it would help a lot. Freshman: This college has a fun and lively campus with copious amounts of clubs, athletic opportunities, and areas to explore. The student body contains some of the kindest people I've ever met. The campus itself is very accessible for people with disabilities, and the bus system is perfect for whether you are traveling on or off campus. there's a huge promotion of wellness all across campus, making the environment feel very hospitable. In terms of my major, graphic design, all of the professors I've had are some of the most brilliant artists I've ever met. Freshman: My experience at Virginia Tech has been outstanding! I finished high school one semester early and earned credit for one semester's worth of college through my local community college. My coursework has been tough but I have persevered with the help of my professors. In addition, the campus is beautiful and the students are friendly. I have enjoyed the campus gym, attended career fairs, played intramural sports, gone on a retreat out of state and even participated in a Business Club Pitch Contest that was way outside of my comfort zone. The housing crisis for upperclassmen needs to change. I would love for more on campus housing to be available for upperclassmen. Junior: The University of Maryland is truly a place like no other. Stepping foot on campus is like walking into an alternate universe. It offers just about any program you can think of and many of these programs are ranked extremely well in the United States, as well as around the world. The location in the Twin Cities is wonderful for access to opportunities in the community for internships and partnerships. Freshman: Auburn University is a great state university! There are plenty of opportunities to explore campus and make connections. Every year they have over a month’s worth of freshman related events to go to, it’s very welcoming. Advisors are friendly and I have had no problems with my professors. Study and you will get the most out of your classes, though Auburn has plenty of free tutoring/aid for students as well! The only things that have been a problem are parking and housing. I live off campus, but I have heard about the hygiene of on some on campus buildings being below par. Parking is also extremely limited, and there is a lot of construction going on in Auburn. There’s nothing wrong with the academia itself, but be prepared to take extra time to park in designated areas and walk to classes. Investing in a scooter or bike may be wise, but arranging your schedule to be manageably walkable also works. AU is very thorough with campus safety so the only issue there is extra exercise.... Junior: What I love most about going to Texas Tech are the people I've met there. I've become close friends with cancer survivors, people from halfway around the world, and people who've led protests! Almost everyone there is kind and willing to give you the time of day to just talk if you want. Classes at Tech are also excellent. Freshman: I like the vast spectrum of extracurricular activities such as clubs and sports. There's a lot of fun things to do. I myself am in a few organizations, and I've enjoyed my stay here so far! Sophomore: I love that I get to be a part of Marching Mizzou and that the campus atmosphere is super engaging and exciting. Going to football games is a fun highlight, especially getting to perform on Faurot Field with some of my friends and peers. I wish that there was more to be done about campus dining and offering more nutritious options on the go. I also wish that campus parking would be improved, but I understand that it's a busy college town with lots of people coming and going every day. Despite that, I enjoy my classes, and I have met a lot of amazing people and professors. While there are over 30,000 students, the professors are good about offering office hours and getting to know their students on a more personal level, assuming that the student wants that.
