Alum: Sam Houston State University is a very warm environment with professors who really care about providing an excellent educational experience. I especially appreciated how quickly my professors responded to my emails, and there was never a moment where I felt that I was taking this college journey alone. There are also various student organizations that not only help students get connected with others on campus, but there are also lots of volunteer opportunities to help students get involved with the community of Huntsville. If I could change anything about my experience, I definitely would have stayed on campus instead of commuting. The parking spaces are few and far between, and with a dorm on campus it is much easier to access classes and student activities. There is usually always some kind of construction happening on the roads, so being able to avoid this by staying on campus is also a plus. Freshman: Navarro College provides many great opportunities for it's students. There are very diverse ranges of classes & professors. In my personal experience, my professors are always encouraging to ask questions and be open with them. This obviously makes my piers and I more comfortable and more open to learning constantly. They provide a sense of compassion that I have never experienced in my whole life when it comes to education. It makes me eager to push myself past my expectations and also break barriers. The campus is also beautiful. Being that it is a junior college it is smaller when compared to 4 year institutions but this takes nothing from it. All of my classes are within a few minutes of walking from my dorm, it is very easy to get from point A to point B. There are many places you can study and get help as well, there is always faculty members around campus and they are always eager to answer any questions that can help you.
