Junior: NC State is not just a school with great academics, campus, and people, but instead a wildly diverse cosmopolitan community. At State there is truly something for everyone. For those who don’t know or have never visited campus, State is located close to Downtown Raleigh. Students enjoy its busy commercial areas as well as the abundance of tech companies, government departments, and awesome parks. On the weekends, friends and myself enjoy the nightlife of Raleigh and the rest of the Triangle. Besides the sense of place that NC State provides, the faculty is remarkable. They retain a sense of intellectual prowess without that air of elitism that other public and private universities might have. Every faculty member I have interacted with has been down to earth and actually cares about student success. I have made so many great connections and friendships since being here. Freshman: I liked having the option of doing my prerequisite classes online while in high school. Signing up for my prerequisite courses will help me have a less stressful college semester when I start in the Fall. I recommend getting ahead of the game to avoid as much stress and the possibility of having a semester off. Sophomore: I’ve been at Wayne community college since about 2008. I went to high school there and I got my associates in liberal arts. Now in 2023, I have went back to get my two degree in early childhood. I can say they offered evening classes in 2008-2012 but not for every class. They have come so far because now they have evening classes for trucking, early childhood, nursing and anything else you need. The staff is helpful in almost every way. If they try something new and they don’t see the results they are looking for, they’ll try something else. Senior: Sampson Community College is a 2 year college located in Clinton, NC. I started taking classes my junior year of high school through a program they have called CCP. This gives high school students the opportunity to get ahead of college work and graduate with an associates degree. The campus is kind of confusing. Everything is kind of spaced out. They also have an early college that students apply for their 8th grade year and go there for high school over a period of 4 years. Most of the teachers I've had have helped me a-lot. There are some teachers that i have had difficulties with but i have always been able to ask for help. Most of the classes i have taken have been online through moodle and it is very easy to access and navigate around. I have taken one in person class and it is much different than online classes.... Other: To me this school is better than nash community college my advisor first impression was absolutely amazing, she stayed checking on me and when I didn’t pass my teas test the first time she told me to keep my head up and that everything was going to be okay she even gave me a number to see if the state would pay for me to take the teas again. Senior: I don't know where we all got the idea that community colleges are sad, under equipped schools for 40-year-olds and trade students, because SPCC is basically the opposite. Don't get me wrong, it is a humble school with only 3 or 4 buildings on campus, but the academics, cost, equipment available student to teacher ratio, and overall sense of community can't be beat. I absolutely love the small class sizes and the opportunity to build relationships with the professors. I also am always surprised at the equipment and resources available to all students (especially in the art department which has every art supply your heart could desire). The student body and faculty are so involved and are always there to make coming to campus a great experience! I wish their online courses were a little more dynamic and engaging but overall I am really enjoying my time at SPCC as I am challenged by the rigorous courses and supportive teachers.... Sophomore: The staff and students are kind and very helpful in my experience here at this school. I enjoy the overall experience here at the university so far. I hope that my next two years will be as fulfilling as the ones that I have taken so far. I'm currently on the women's soccer team as a manager and that experience has given me what I need to declare my major. I'm an English major who wants to work in sports communication. My time here at the school has had its ups and downs but one thing that I know about this school is the amount of time and effort that is put into our schooling makes it worth the pain that you could go through here. Sophomore: I love the small town feel of this college. I love the ratio of teachers to students - I feel that the teacher quickly learns everyone's names and the students learn who everyone is, so that if you have to get into groups it's not terribly uncomfortable. The teachers are very knowledgeable and I know I am getting an excellent education even though I am not at a big expensive university. I learn easily from most of the teachers I have had there because they explain the material very well and often use visual aids. My favorite classes have been Biology and nursing classes because there is so much hands on work.
