Sophomore: Lansing Community College handled the pandemic really well. The transition to online learning was pretty smooth. Now two years into the pandemic, LCC is starting to offer more in person class options, which is awesome! Except they are also taking away online learning options, which made the college more accessible for more people. Class sizes are small and personal, it gives better opportunities to get to know your instructor. Even with online learning I made bonds with some of my instructors. Sophomore: I have enjoyed my experience at West Shore Community College. I have been dual-enrolled since my senior year in 2021. I have taken a mixture of online and in-person classes and have enjoyed both of them. I also have enjoyed the student life and am part of the student senate that throws free events for the students on campus. I have not had a bad experience with a professor, and if I had had issues with a class and reached out, I was helped immediately. Alum: I attended Glen Oaks while I was still in high school and was even able to graduate with my associates before I graduated high school. In terms of academics Glen Oaks is a pretty standard community college but the staff is what made the experience so enjoyable. During my last year at GOCC I had hip surgery that put me on crutches for 6 weeks. I was very worried about being able to get to my class since it was on the opposite corner of campus then the parking lot but after talking with a professor they were able to get me a pass to be able to park at the entrance right next to my class. The only problem was that since it was the maintenance entrance there weren't any handicap doors. A few of the people who worked in the maintenance office saw me struggling one day and walked out to help me with the doors, after that there was almost always someone there to help me. Alum: I loved going here! They made the application process, payment, scholarships etc. very easy to deal with. The professors are helpful and willing to answer any questions you have. The campus is smaller but that makes it so much easier to make it to classes that are not in the same department. Food there is great, more of a quiet student life in my experience, but there are lots of extra curricular activities to get involved with if you want! With the campus being the size it is, it is also easy to feel more safe here than on some other large campuses. Over all I would suggest MCC to anyone that was considering attending.... Sophomore: Muskegon community college is an excellent start for bright students that wish to push their learning further while perhaps on a budget! MCC has helped me get my associates degree through numerous scholarship opportunities and plentiful resources with learning. I swear that I was getting graduate level instructors while at a 100 and 200 level course. Something I wish to see change in is the financial side of things, they are not the most clear about how much tuition can cost, and you may have to do the digging yourself to figure out the math. Alum: I think JC is, overall, very good to it's students. Main campus is well designed, and faculty are generally easy to get ahold of. My only request is that JC higher-ups make better choices when borrowing educators from other colleges and universities. In my experience, many of these out-of-town professors don't care to follow JC's procedures and tend to not care for their Jackson College students in the same way they care for their students at their other institutions....
