Other: Currently I am enrolled for the winter term that begins Jan 8th. Im a 40yr old female, starting over “in life” and am grateful for the opportunity to broaden my education. For the past 19 years I’ve made a living as a bartender and thoroughly enjoyed the work up until 2021 and facing a traumatic encounter. The resources available as well as my initial enrollment and class registration was a process with probability of increasing my anxiety and panic. Thankfully the staff and advisors of UCC have been extremely helpful in guiding me along the way, being that everything is completed via portals and web based nowadays. A far cry from the more hands on and face to face interactions I am familiar with from my previous time spent at UCC approximately 20 years ago!! Not that I’m immune to change or technology, but my tendency to unintentionally over analyze and over worry about executing tasks correctly and efficiently has proven to be discouraging. Sophomore: I am about to enter my second year at Linfield University, and I can honestly say that my freshamn year was amazing, I loved it. Not only was I able to maintain a high GPA while taking somewhat difficult courses, but I was also able to be apart of the women's soccer team, as well as work full time. Sophomore: I have really enjoyed my time at Chemeketa. I have taken both in-person and online classes, and both have been very well organized and the teachers have been excellent in their fields. Community college gets a lot of flack, but I feel like I made a really smart choice going here first, exploring my options, and getting my associate's at a much lower price. The advisors, tutors, and other admin staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and want to see you succeed. Most of my experience so far has been at the Yamhill Valley Campus, which has wonderful lighting, technology access, and studying areas. I highly recommend attending Chemeketa if you are considering post-secondary education, whether that be just a few classes or working toward a graduate degree. I want to give a special shout out to my favorite teacher there: Keely Baca! I love her teaching style and personality, and all of her anthropology classes have been wonderful; she's the reason I'm going into museum work!... Read 797 reviews
