Freshman: The university of South Carolina is very diverse. The professors are very genuine and passionate about what the teach. The campus is in the heart of South Carolina, Columbia. It gives you the mix of city life in a more southern area. The students are very kind and love to have fun. The athletic teams here work very hard and continue to improve each and every season. The campus has tons of options for affordable housing. I personally find the 650 Lincoln the best. The campus has many food options, from home-cooked food, to establishments such as Chick-fil-a, jersey mikes, Starbucks, and many more options. The student life is great, and very safe. The campus has its own police force, with emergency stations placed all throughout campus. It's known that if you press an emergency station, an officer will be there to help in less than 60 seconds. Sophomore: The environment at Claflin is very nice and serene, the student body is very helpful. I do feel as though the staff, specifically the school's president could do a little more for the school as far as housing, and dining. I feel as though, with us being a top HBCU in the country, my school seems more focused on the image than what goes on behind the scenes. They offer/have great programs for the students and even better opportunities, which I feel that is what college is all about. Being able to have endless opportunities and a university that wants you to succeed but, ignoring the smaller things such as dining, and housing have turned into bigger issues. Senior: Voorhees college is a college that builds character . It is definitely an institution of inspiration. At voorhees you’ll feel the family environment. All schools have their ups and downs, although voorhees is very small you will get opportunities of a lifetime. Voorhees gives you opportunities to travel out of the country , opportunities to build your businesses , and even opportunities that’ll later on help you in your career.
