Graduate Student: I loved this college! I loved KBCC! Firstly, it has a great location with ample space for college events. The college organizes various events with games and food. Additionally, KBCC has its own art gallery where every student has the opportunity to showcase their artwork. The president may even purchase standout pieces for the KBCC art collection. The college also has a fantastic farming space where organizers grow vegetables for students, professors, and the cooking program. Volunteering is also encouraged. KBCC offers a diverse range of clubs, a great library with eight floors and a stunning view, as well as excellent sports facilities. Sophomore: Although the many buildings can be daunting to a new coming student, the environment remains warm and welcoming. The professors are fluent in their field and very accommodating to all kinds of circumstances and are genuine in their attempt to reach out to any student that may be struggling. There is a plethora of clubs, programs and other extracurricular activities available to every student - including an accessible gym and a swimming area. In my year and a half attending, it is clear that I made the right choice in picking a school accommodating of those who seek flexibility and opportunity. Despite my major (political science) not being prolific or popular, it is very easy to maintain and build connections with other students in classes or in the general campus area. The area is also accommodating of students by maintaining multiple places to eat or grab a drink if needed - in fact, there are starbucks located inside multiple buildings. Sophomore: My first year was great, it was not easy but Hostos and the Staff treated me well. The books were pricey for my first semester. My classes were science based meaning they were high maintenance and required my time and attention everyday, study and assignment wise. My teachers were supportive and gracious in their office hours with me, but I still needed to discipline myself. I would like more career opportunities in the school. Junior: The school in itself is a very welcoming community. The counselors, as well as the professors and the whole staff is wonderful. In any minor inconvenience they are willing to help. They help in any way that they can and allow for a wonderful experience in the school. Professors are always welcoming and straight forward at the same time. There is always a clear grading policy and a clear assignment list. They offer lots of different experiences throughout the year, like the career fairs, which are wonderful just to see what other jobs and possibilities are out there. It’s a great school, and i’m very pleased with my choice. I’ve never met such a good group of school individuals. Even all of the students are wonderful. Graduate Student: Medgar Evers was not my ideal school, but, I can confidently say that it had treated me well. Now, I can't speak on all things MEC but I will share my experience and what I know. I graduated from MEC about two years ago, but I still find myself reflecting back to my wonderful professors, faculty members, and my fellow scholars who had aided me not only academically, but in other areas of my life as well. That's not to say MEC doesn't have its issues, but what college doesn't? To list a few, management of the financial aid office, lack of updated resources in the library, the food selection at the cafeteria, and class selection. These issues could've been corrected within the last two years, I hope they have at least been discussed by faculty, but they did not stop me from graduating and feeling like I earned my degree.
