Sophomore: I'm currently considering a shift to the Bachelor of Computer Science and Arts Degree (BXA). CMU's versatility in offering such a unique blend of art and tech truly speaks to its pioneering spirit in education. It’s not every day you find a university that allows you to bridge two seemingly disparate fields in such a cohesive manner. However, like all institutions, there's always room for improvement. I'd love to see more inter-departmental collaborations. Alum: I love nearly everything about this school! The sports are great, there are major entertainment events, art and religion are honored, there are over 1,000 student organizations, and I have had incredible professors consistently throughout my years (although peers in other majors did not always say this). In the area, there is hiking, skiing, several summer festivals, several thrift stores, and a high proportion of restaurants with different ethnic cuisines. Recommendation for change are prioritizing updates to dorm buildings and increasing accessibility to groceries downtown, as this is where a large number of students live (without their cars). It has many international students, but is otherwise limited in diversity. It mostly reflects the state/region, so I do not see this as something that necessarily needs to change.... Sophomore: I would say the only downside is that you have to be pretty headstrong about your college career decisions. Especially with the Cooperative Education at Drexel, you are expected to stay ahead of the curve and be ready for the workforce, simultaneously keeping advisors and professors in the loop about exactly how you need to organise your classes. The great thing about it applies to students who know how to go out and get what they’re looking for and are self-reliant. Senior: I LOVE Temple University! Most of my professors have been nice, fair, knowledgeable and even passionate about what they teach. Temple has a gym on campus, which offers group fitness classes including yoga, cycling, and meditation, included in tuition fees. The healthcare I received on campus has always been stellar. The Disability Resource Services offered have been stellar, and the 24-hour TECH Center is a pleasure to spend days in while studying and working on projects. Temple has an app now where you can request a chaperoned walk home in person or virtually, as well as a nightly shuttle that circulates around the edges of campus for those in off-campus housing. Our Marching Band was one of my favorite extra curriculars offering an annual stipend when you join and you get to perform synchronized dances to pop songs at home games on Philly Eagles turf at the LINC. Sophomore: Due to merging of a former college that I’ve been accepted to, there has been a lack of management and coordination in a lot of departments. The staff and instructors are awesome and try their best to manage with the situations. It’s slowly getting there and improvements have been coming along pretty noticeably, but it still needs more time and work. Considering the fact that they are operating multiple campuses, the only suggestion I would have is to try to integrate them together. Majority of the major events take place at the major campus and there is a lack of convenient transport between campuses. There can be some major improvements there is foster inclusivity and cooperation from everyone. Senior: It is a christian university and there are many great things about it. However, many of the students who attend lack maturity and it can be disappointing when trying to find good christian relationships. Despite this, there are some great things on campus. Including prayer group and powerhouse. As far as the majors, I have experience in 6 different majors. The Bible program can be intense but it is good. Our music major is okay, but definitely more band focused than choir. Our business and athletic departments are both amazing and I have loved every moment and interaction in these departments. I have also heard wonderful things about our nursing department from friends but I personally am not a part of it. Overall, it is a good school, but if you are a conservative, be prepared for a lot of left wing views. Senior: PSU-Erie is a wonderful school physically and community-wise. The school is just outside of the city and hidden by a plethora of trees and greenery. The plants and trees are well-maintained throughout the year. There is a lot of history at the school which can be seen in some of its paths and older buildings. The school is dedicated to student safety, mental health and success. It is always changing its buildings, activities and courses based off of what their students and families are suggesting. That in itself makes the school a 5/5 . My only issue with having gone to this school is that meal plans were very expensive and did not supply a proper amount of food for student sustenance. I am hoping this is something the school looks into and changes in the coming years. Be sure to tour your residents halls before accepting one! Sophomore: Lebanon Valley College is setting me up for success in life. LVC is a private college that ranks #1 is PA for job placement consistently. I love how small the school is, students can have personalized attention with the professors. I have gained valuable connections and will be doing research on chemotherapy this upcoming school year, and I’m only going to be a sophomore! I cant speak much on other departments but the science department is strong and rigorous. I am a neuroscience/pre med major hoping to get into med school to be a doctor/surgeon one day and I can say that these science courses challenge me, and I graduated 3rd in my high school. I feel as though I will be well prepared when I get into med school. LVC is a beautiful place and is very generous when it comes to financial aid. I got the Allwein scholarship, so my tuition is taken care of, but the school gives everyone big financial aid packages, the better your GPA in high school the more money they will give you.... Other: I am an incoming freshman this fall at Lycoming College. I was beyond relieved and trilled when I was able to announce my commitment to Lyco. The whole recruiting process alone for football was stressful. Actually coming down to the decision to pick a school was tough. I thought back to my time taking a visit to Lyco; right from when I got there everyone was so nice and I felt like as if I knew everyone already. I was the only recruit on campus that day so it was just my dad and I. The coaching staff greeted me with open arms and so did the players. The players, I appreciated a lot for showing me and around campus and being personable. Everything about the campus seemed to be just what I was looking for from the surrounding area, campus, students, and athletics. I am just so grateful that God and guided me to this and opened this door for me to continue on with my goals. Alum: It is a wonderful and small campus, which is exactly what I needed. I had some of the most incredible professors, and learned so much about myself and my own beliefs and goals in life. It is highly reformed Presbyterian, which doesn’t line up with me at all, but they encouraged me to figure out my own views instead of having to conform to theirs. Alum: Elizabethown College is a tight community with dedicated professors and cheerful students. I attended in the 80's and the spirit has remained unchanged. There are many suburban high school students looking for a comfortable environment like Etown. Living on campus is quiet and college community oriented. The academics are excellent, on par with colleges that have higher rankings. While the college is no longer officially tied to the Brethren church, there is a history of acceptance, service and tolerance that is a strong reason for some students to consider Etown. While there is no Greek scene at the college there was a lively party scene on and off campus when I went there. Sophomore: Arcadia provides pathways and networks for students to advance their career, alongside many opportunities to be flexible with career paths. Senior: I am in Pedas a lot on campus. It is a newer and upkept building. Admissions students working there are always nice and will help you. The facility there is almost perfect too. Prof. Humphrey is energetic, sweet, and made my creativity and passion blossom. He gets stuff done in Pedas, which we need. Prof. Lana (Kulik) is someone everyone wants to be. She forces you to learn. Super intelligent and always tries to see both sides of things. Staff Jacob Clark has grown so much at his time here at Thiel. I hope he continues to do so. I wish he could do more here. Staff Paul Coatsworth has taught me more than anyone at this college. He is the most experienced, so he makes a great leader and mentor. He also has pushed for the necessary upgrades in Pedas and helps everyone master the equipment. (On that note, check out our new podcast room! It's pretty cool and open to anyone!)
