Senior: Whitworth's advantage over other many other schools stems from its interconnectedness and the ability for students to engage with the community. Over 4 years, especially if the first two are on-campus, it is easy to get to know other students and professors well and become an actual, meaningful member of the college, rather than just a transient (which is all but inevitable in state schools). Small class sizes paired with strong faculty makes for an involved academic experience, and special care is put into students' personal growth as well as specialized career skills. Whitworth has a high-achieving sports program, though student sections can be a bit sparse. The music department also brings very strong performers who often go on to play at high-ranking graduate schools. The strongest departments are Education, all STEM, Psychology, Communications, and Theology/Philosophy. Weaker departments are Nursing, Theater, and non-Spanish languages. Other: I have yet to experience the atmosphere of Eastern Washington University as I am transferring from Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon. However, in the enrollment and registration process, I can already tell I am going to love it there as my academic advisor is already ten times better than my last. I feel heard at Eastern so far which is more than can be said for my time at Bushnell. My time at Bushnell ended traumatically, and I am hoping Eastern provides me with a fresh start. I am hoping to earn this scholarship as I have no other way of paying for school. In transferring I lost my academic and athletic scholarships from Bushnell and I am unable to work due to injuries. Sophomore: I love the campus and faculty. The campus is beautifully placed next to Lake Coeur D'Alene, very close to downtown and restaurants. The food on campus is great, even just at the marketplace cafeteria, but Emery's restaurant, run by the culinary arts students is incredible and well priced! Most of my professors so far have shown great passion for what they teach and provide students with the resources needed to succeed. I have had some less engaged professors, but I still had enough resources to do well. Even in my online courses, I have been able to stay engaged and on track because of the well chosen course material. Considering the great array of courses offered, the return on investment is everything. It is really incredible what this small college offers in outdoor recreation and academic courses. Graduate Student: My overall experience with Spokane Community College has been a very positive one. I would like to share with others how Spokane Community College has been an amazing place for me to start my new beginning in life. So far, with the exception of one assistant instructor, every course and instructor has been exceptional. I have had a long road and many hurdles to overcome just to get this far. The support and kindness within Spokane Community College has been life changing. My grades are almost at a 4.0 this quarter. I will graduate at the end of the next spring quarter with my associates degree. This college has so many supportive resource such as free medical , free weight room, free counseling for mental health needs and support for addiction therapy. Alum: This is a strong but mighty college that a delivers a very genuine, authentic, and valuable education. Classes are small enough that I always developed a one on one relationship with all of my professors instead of sitting in a classroom of thousands. There are ample resources for students to help them in all aspects of their life and academics. I really enjoyed attending this university and would recommend the transfer path through CCS to anyone. Niche User: I got my school tour and as soon as i walked in the door i fell in love with everyone being so happy and always doing something. I wasn't sure when i first went online to request a tour but everything has changed. This is my dream school but schoalrships are something i will need to even be able to attend. It was great seeing how each class was bonding. I love how they separate everything and make it so everyone can learn at different levels with their class.
