Sophomore: Jefferson College is a great option for students seeking an environment in which they can develop close bonds with their professors. The college is also affordable and within commuting distance for many students. Campus life is amazing for students who commute to or live on campus. Sophomore: I love that I get to be a part of Marching Mizzou and that the campus atmosphere is super engaging and exciting. Going to football games is a fun highlight, especially getting to perform on Faurot Field with some of my friends and peers. I wish that there was more to be done about campus dining and offering more nutritious options on the go. I also wish that campus parking would be improved, but I understand that it's a busy college town with lots of people coming and going every day. Despite that, I enjoy my classes, and I have met a lot of amazing people and professors. While there are over 30,000 students, the professors are good about offering office hours and getting to know their students on a more personal level, assuming that the student wants that. On top of that, there are fun places to visit such as the Missouri Theatre, Ragtag Cinema, and lots of local restaurants and shops. Being off campus can seem disconnected, but it definitely isn't. Freshman: My experience with Missouri State University was terrific! The campus was beautiful and easy to navigate. The professors were knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, making the classes engaging and interesting. The student body was friendly and diverse, creating a welcoming atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed extracurricular activities such as club sports and volunteer organizations. One thing I would like to see change is parking availability on campus. Junior: Overall, I have gained a lot from my years at MCC. My first year was incredibly difficult for me because I was not properly prepared to be accountable for myself without anyone being there to push me along. So, I do think that there needs to be a little bit more support for first-year college students. Maybe in English Comp 1, which most first-year college students take, there is a section about learning to take notes for college and how some people take notes differently and work that into the curriculum. I also think the advisors need to be more informed about what students may need when transferring to outside Universities after their time here. Personally, I have a lot of classes that I need to transfer to another school's Nursing programs that my advisor did not inform me of or even tell me to begin looking at what I may need.
