Niche User: First I was really overwhelmed with the huge building, yet sooner that feeling went away as I got comfrotable with the area. I appreciate the staff for being super friendly and thank you for how helpful you guys were answering my one billion questions. If you are more into hands on learning, then this should definitely be an college option for you! The facility offers labs, prep rooms, and surgery rooms for us students to practice and show what was learned in lectures. To top it off, the Vet Tech Institute makes sure needs are met - they're here to help before and after you graduate. One thing I wish was a shorter distance from where I live. Freshman: I start in November of this year for my first year at IBC. When I went and toured the college, I fell in love with it right away. It is a little smaller, but that makes It more intimate. Which I really appreciate. All of the teachers have an open door policy, which is amazing. Knowing that I don’t have to do a super formal unnecessary email just to schedule an appointment with my teacher to ask a few questions about my schooling, or their class, is a huge relief to me. I love that you get to be hands within your first month there. The only thing I would change, is already what they’re trying to change. That is, all the unnecessary electives that we already took in high school. However, they have eliminated most of these, and are trying to get rid of the rest. Freshman: I absolutely appreciate the smaller class sizes. Teachers are very open and willing to work with you on an individual level, but also in group settings. Scheduling classes is easy. Scheduling and financial aid work hand in hand with you to make sure that your class schedule works with your schedule outside of school, but that you can afford your course load. Senior: Fantastic experience thus far. I have transferred from a lackluster institution and Purdue blows it out of the water. Academics within the Polytechnic Institute have been both challenging but rewarding to pursue by yourself--or better yet with others! Campus is beautiful and is rapidly expanding upon but more housing is needed on campus and by West Lafayette (thankfully downtown Lafayette is a great off campus place to be). Opportunities no joke pop up everyday due to the connections and reputation has for its students. And nearly everyone is both kind and helpful in every aspect of your academic career. Alum: I love nearly everything about this school! The sports are great, there are major entertainment events, art and religion are honored, there are over 1,000 student organizations, and I have had incredible professors consistently throughout my years (although peers in other majors did not always say this). In the area, there is hiking, skiing, several summer festivals, several thrift stores, and a high proportion of restaurants with different ethnic cuisines. Recommendation for change are prioritizing updates to dorm buildings and increasing accessibility to groceries downtown, as this is where a large number of students live (without their cars). It has many international students, but is otherwise limited in diversity. It mostly reflects the state/region, so I do not see this as something that necessarily needs to change.... Freshman: MSU is a friendly, welcoming, and supportive college. Everyone here is willing to help and always available to answer any questions.
