Senior: I've had an amazing experience at UT. Pursuing a career in journalism, it's an honor to be studying at one of the best journalism programs in the world! I've learned so much from such amazing and accomplished journalists, and I've been able to grow my knowledge and journalistic writing and center in on exactly what path I want to go down in journalism. Sophomore: Brazosport College is an easy place campus to remember where everything is at. The college is not so spread out, so that means it takes less time to get from one place to another. I enjoyed the campus; it has a friendly and peaceful environment with many helpful people. There is plenty of parking all around the campus, which is a plus, so you will not be far from your vehicle. The campus will also have these mini celebrations with free food and some little prizes for students. Brazosport College is also very close to Lake Jackson with many restaurants and stores just in case you need to stop by and grab a few things. Graduate Student: I had a pretty good experience here! There were some teachers within the nursing program who acted like they didn’t care, but there were far more who did! They helped motivate me and even talked me off the ledge when I was thinking about quitting! In my Final semester, I didn’t have any financial aid to pay my tuition, but with the help of my advisor and financial aid, which one of my instructors told me to do, I was able to find and apply for a scholarship and finish my degree! I take loved the fact that I didn’t have to enroll myself in my classes also, so I never had to guess on what to take, even before I was in my program! They took great care of me. Junior: What I love most about going to Texas Tech are the people I've met there. I've become close friends with cancer survivors, people from halfway around the world, and people who've led protests! Almost everyone there is kind and willing to give you the time of day to just talk if you want. Classes at Tech are also excellent. The professors and instructors do an excellent job of covering material and are usually very patient with the student body. Speaking of which, Texas Tech has helped me to discover my passion for mathematics. Prior to coming here, I used to struggle and fear the topic, but after taking Calculus I've learned that It can beautiful and sometimes wonderfully simple. There's plenty to do outside of academics at Tech. A myriad of clubs and organizations are always looking for new members to join. Sophomore: Lee College is a cheap and easy way to get a college education. For the price, you get a pretty good education. Professors are there to help you, they understand when situations occur and are willing to work with you. Email and keep in contact with your professors! It's a well known community college for a reason. The professors are good at what they do, some are less communicative or involved than others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because some classes are very straightforward and don't need lots of involvement. Every professor I've had is willing to work with you, keeps in contact, and responds to emails within a day. The courses have the same rigor as other colleges and even some universities. Sophomore: The Dental Hygiene Degree Program is the main reason I chose LIT as my college. As a first year student, I have completed Orofacial Anatomy, Instrumentation, Preventive Care and Dental Radiology. These classes alone have helped me identify the head and neck anatomy and record any atypical findings, show me how to properly use instruments, educate my patients about proper care and take acceptable radiographs. I really enjoy being in the program. This curriculum will prepare and teach me the skills for the Dental Hygiene National Board Exam and the Clinical Regional Exam. I also chose LIT because of their offering of free classes and reduced tuition due to COVID-19. LIT has been one of the few colleges that care about their students’ health, wellbeing, and success. They offer tutoring sessions and dual credit classes for future undergraduate students planning to attend LIT. Freshman: This university is a great place for diversity and offers a wide variety of courses. While it’s certainly not a party school, the school has an amazing social climate for those who are more lowkey with their social interactions. They do a lot of diversity and inclusion training, and treat their freshmen class really well. The faculty and staff are extremely welcoming and nice, I have not had a bad experience with them yet! The professors are mostly very friendly and recognize hard work, and their courses are very informative and thorough. The campus is also very compact, so getting from class to class is not a hassle at all, especially if you’re scheduled back to back. The only cons I can see is the high monetary pricing of the school (as most private colleges) and the fact that the campus VA program does not communicate with the on base VA, so you’re basically setting up your benefits without a lot of help, and it also leads to a lot of misscommunication.... Niche User: I currently take dual credit classes and I went there recently to tour the campus. While the campus was well taken care of, It wasn't in the best area, but they have a 24-hour on-campus police and security section. The people there were very nice and helpful I got to speak to an admissions counselor and a finical aid advisor. The faculty was very friendly and they have lots of great resources to make sure that you thrive at the college, they have multiple free tutoring resources available online and in person. They have tons of options for your degree and they even have trade schools! Something that I noticed while taking their dual credit class is that the teachers are very helpful and willing to take time and help you, they respond to emails and texts really fast and it just seems like they actually want to succeed not just pass. Senior: Friendly environment with a lovely small town feel. Coming onto campus my freshman year I was very nervous because it was such a huge transition from high school. I was far away from my hometown friends and family in a town that I had never heard of until I applied to Tarleton. Thankfully, I was approached with open arms and quickly made friends. Tarleton has an amazing student organization that host events often to engage with students and keep the spirit of Tarleton alive. What also makes Tarleton so unique is that the president is often seen at various events and loves to talk with students and engage with them.
