Junior: I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Wayne State thus far. Not only is there plenty to explore and experience, the city life, the diversity, and opportunities are what makes it worthwhile! The diversity among the student body is enriching in that as an individual, you're able to meet others and collaborate to gain new perspectives. Being in the heart of Detroit, Wayne State is surrounded by all kinds of activities, events, concerts, and more. One thing that I have thoroughly enjoyed during my time at Wayne State were all the different music venues around the city, offering every type of music you can think of! You can find it all downtown. Growing up in the Metro Detroit area, I was familiar with the area before I finally transferred to Wayne. If there was anything I could change, it might be to add more food options on campus and to possibly add more "hang-out" type areas outdoors/interactive seating. I have had many family members attend Western Michigan university and plan to be the next one to become a Bronco. Freshman: I recently got admitted into Michigan tech! So far it has been a thrilling affair with their admission process. Alum: I can not say enough great things about Ferris State University. First, the location is beautiful and the small town of Big Rapids was welcoming. The college is central to the area. It's easy enough to navigate and there is always someone around to give you directions or even recommendations to wherever you are headed next. And the school itself gives you professors that are fantastic. Most of the professors I encountered were kind and generous. So many are approachable and easy to talk with. One time in particular, I really struggled with an accounting class. It was difficult for me to understand the concepts that were discussed in the online setting, but by being able to go to the professor's in-office hours was detrimental to my passing grade. The professor only wanted to see my success and never made me feel ridiculous. Graduate Student: My experience at Gogebic was awesome it was funny because when I first got there I was afraid because I was 10 hours away from home and it was my first time leaving home so far for a while in 2019. I cried like a baby at first because I was in the middle of no where and I was just homesick. Junior: When I started at Northern Michigan University, I was a pre-med neuroscience major with the intention of going to medical school. My experience within this program was great, but unfortunately, Covid happened and it shifted both my perspective and plans. I switched into the school of business and it was not a good experience. I had multiple professors who seemed to not care about their students at all. I then switched into the construction management program and it has been nothing short of amazing. Each instructor cares whole-heartedly about the success of each individual student. The opportunities the CM program gives are endless and always up for grabs. Sophomore: I will describe my experience with Grand Valley State University with one word, great! The professors at Grand Valley are willing to help you with everything they got all you have to do is ask and they won't hesitate to help with what you need, because they want to see you succeed. You don't understand the material they've given you? Oh just go to their office visit hours! You're not able to attend office hours because you have a class during that time? Oh don't worry about it there's zoom meetings or they will try to meet you outside of office hours! The professors aren't the only thing I like about Grand Valley. I also like the environment, the building structures (you can get lost at first but you'll find your way if you can't then there's always a person near you, you can ask them for help), the scenery (especially the scenery) it's refreshing. Alum: I attended Glen Oaks while I was still in high school and was even able to graduate with my associates before I graduated high school. In terms of academics Glen Oaks is a pretty standard community college but the staff is what made the experience so enjoyable. During my last year at GOCC I had hip surgery that put me on crutches for 6 weeks. I was very worried about being able to get to my class since it was on the opposite corner of campus then the parking lot but after talking with a professor they were able to get me a pass to be able to park at the entrance right next to my class. The only problem was that since it was the maintenance entrance there weren't any handicap doors. A few of the people who worked in the maintenance office saw me struggling one day and walked out to help me with the doors, after that there was almost always someone there to help me. Alum: Overall I had a great experience at Saginaw Valley State University. The campus always had events planned for students to mingle. My friends and I especially enjoyed going to hockey games and plays. The theater department did a wonderful job creating interesting sets and costumes. The advisors at SVSU were very helpful. There are so many aspects of Macomb that you don’t get at a lot of other colleges. In my experience all of the professors here really take interest in helping you learn the material, making sure you understand, and are doing well in the class.
