Senior: I am one term away from finishing my Criminal Justice Degree at Portland State University. I had a really good experience on campus and with the whole criminology program overall. I took many other criminology classes in addition to the required classes and they were all excellent. My favorite instructor was Jason Jones. What a valuable asset to PSU! What I liked the most about the criminology program at PSU was the fact that most of my instructors were actively working in law enforcement, so they are able to tell us what was going on in the Portland area presently and during the Covid pandemic era. I think the biggest thing I would like to see changed is tuition prices. Wow! Does it really need to cost that much to improve your life and contribute to the betterment of society? Sophomore: Portland Community College has such wonderful professors that really care about their students. Professors were kind, accommodating, and willing to listen to their students. They are interested in the success of their students. I really enjoyed going to PCC, especially learning about topics that weren't discussed in high school. Niche User: I took an online math class at Lower Columbia College for college in the high school credits. The teacher was incredibly helpful and kind. The students worked hard and created a comfortable community. During the class, I was able to learn hands-on math skills as well as participate in a close-knit community. I have been on campus and it is a relatively nice area! The only critique I have is that the teacher did not grade very quickly and I would have to wait for important grades until the class ended. The class was scheduled for Monday and Friday but did not have a Zoom meeting which was incredibly convenient. The course was 'do it at your own pace'. The cost of attending Lower Columbia College is somewhat affordable and my school covered the cost of credits. I hope to tour the campus more to see if Lower Columbia College would be a viable option for me. I spoke to other students and they seem to enjoy the class too! Sophomore: Warm and accepting community. Campus is always hosting community events and activities, and the entire environment is very friendly-neighborhood-esque. The arts programs' and trade programs' instructors really know their stuff! The professors and classrooms are all very professional and high-standards, though some of the facilities are smaller due to the community nature of the college. I felt the credits I received were accurate reflections of how much I learned. I took a fiction class here, and I feel that some of my best story writings came out of that course.... Junior: The college is great for helping people pursue different career options. You don't have to know what you are planning to do for the future right away. The course planners invest time in making sure that you are comfortable and are able to receive all the help you can get. This school also has options for students that have financial need, have a disability, tutoring, and other needs. CCC also has many extracurricular programs for students to participate in. I found these to be a great option for kids who like to involve themselves within the school. I will also say that the dorms and housing are quite nice. Graduate Student: I met a very inspiring man who I was lucky enough to have as my teacher and mentor. He's so knowledgeable and so are all of the staff there. They're there to help us and make sure we get our foot in the door and a career started. I can always go back to them if I need their help in the future too! I enjoyed learning the computer system, ticketing, geography, airport codes, etc. They have plenty of connections with airline companies and even if they don't, I can still interview with any airline and my Airline/Travel Specialist Diploma keeps me on top of the list. I'm more than happy I attended this school and I learned beyond the material taught. I had a great experience besides some of my classmates, but that's just another learning experience...
