Senior: Great school for the arts and entertainment. Whether it be music television writing or film! They offer business programs as well as all of the classes are online. Right in the center of Florida. I would say they fall short in the amenities that normal universities have such as athletics, housing, and school party lifestyle. But this is no ordinary school, it is an entertainment based school. Where other universities lack, full sail thrives. Everyone has similar interests and are like minded people. If you have an appreciation for the arts, you understand the power this school posses. Networking in general is the way to gain leverage in the industry and powering your personal circle and uniting in the name of your similar interests and goals. With all that being said school is an investment, and full sail is undeniably a for profit school. Freshman: Take a deep breath don't be nervous, take a moment to observe your surroundings. These were my first thoughts when stepping into Valencia College to begin my first semester in the spring. As someone who graduated early during the midst of the pandemic, I felt like I would be immediately outcasted academically. While I was a straight A’s student in high school with a severe lack of teachers, I began to wonder if I was truly ready to attend college full-time at the age of 16. However, as soon as I entered the building I was greeted by the staff, and welcomed by a comforting and sincere environment. In that exact moment all my worries and concerns vanished! There is always someone around to answer my questions and programs to cater to my mental, emotional, physical, and academic needs. Freshman: I absolutely adore Lake-Sumter State College. It is about twenty minutes from where I live and convenient. Not to mention the campus is beautiful. However, community college is only for some. It is not entirely the college experience you would get at a university: no dorms and roommates, no food services, and not nearly as many people. I personally don't think it is a big deal, and I enjoy having smaller classes with fewer people where I can get more one-on-one help. There are so many tutors available at all times, and anyone and everyone are willing to help you there. Freshman: Everything at Herzing is clearly designed to help you succeed. The staff, from the security guard to admissions to financial aid and beyond, are all super helpful and nice. Even when I made a mistake, they were right there with me trying to figure out how it could be fixed. They truly care. Herzing also has various programs to assist students which is amazing. They help with getting your first job after graduation, including resume and interview assistance. They have a place where you can get mental health services so you don't get too burned out from your coursework. It's just amazing compared to other campuses I've seen. The Orlando campus is rather small compared to some of the other colleges nearby (UCF, Full Sail and Valencia), only one building with several stories high. But I think it's better that way. Freshman: Great school, the instructors are awesome and never had any issues with aircraft. Only room for improvement would be the actual office staff. Seems like no one in the offices really knows what’s going on, there’s never a straight answer from scheduling to financial aid. Anytime a question on financial aid or money owed no one knows or they try to give you the talk around never getting an answer. Graduate Student: Orlando Tech is a technical college that cuts right to the chase for all students aiming to get their degree. Students range from high school students that arrive there as dual enrollments to middle age adults getting their education. Great thing about Orlando Tech is that it has a welcoming atmosphere and does not discriminate to handicapped students. Additionally, Orlando Tech can assist you to get a job after completion of your course and inform students about job fairs for their respected career . Alum: Was in the DFVP (Digital Film and Video Program) class, and I had a really awesome time. The instructors were helpful and you’re hands-on with equipment pretty much every day. The program had its ups-and-downs, mostly in live video production, but my class and I stuck together to the end. Would say the short-film projects were the ones that made us become a group who will continue to work with each other in the future, along with our instructors.
