Alum: Experience? What comes to mind when I think of my experience at San Joaquin Valley College Bakersfield campus, is amazing instructors. I was worried going in to the electrical technology program that I would be treated differently, but I was wrong. I was treated just like every other student that showed up everyday on time and ready to learn. When the campus started to open back up SJVC had a few issues that got lost in translation between new staff and students. With that being said SJVC handled these minor hiccups promptly and sufficiently. I went the extra mile and received my A.S. degree and was helped every step of the way. The staff at SJVC understands that life happens, and realizes that students have a life and family outside of the campus and your studies. When a situation arises they are here to help in anyway possible. The staff at SJVC will become part of your family. Well, at least in my personal experience they have. Freshman: My time at CSUB has yet to start as I am beginning the first semester this fall. However, as of late, all of the staff and student body has been welcoming to every student. I love that the campus is clean, big, and close to home. I love that the school provides students with opportunities to relax or further their studies in the library and several shops around the area. They encourage students who visit campus to take part in any of the many clubs that exist, and student exclusive activities, such as rock climbing, visiting the gym, or trying out for sports!... Freshman: I recently started at Bakersfield College after being out of school for 20 years. To say I was nervous to return to college would be a huge understatement. On my first day on campus, I immediately felt welcome. Student services and staff were set up at tents welcoming new and returning students to the campus. The enrollment process and every other facilitator or staff member have been beyond helpful. They make the process very easy. The amount of opportunities are endless. The school has a strong athletics department and they are proud of their accomplishments. I also have been impressed to learn about the large amounts of work opportunities, clubs available, programs in place to help a student succeed, tutoring services, and online class opportunities. Sophomore: My experience since attending and continuing my education at Taft College is amazing. This Community College is by far the best and most caring place to be at! The food is top tier, the employees wave you off with a smile (while on campus). The resources on the campus are the best thing there is yet, they give out free food to the students in need (food pantry) and also give out food vouchers to the students who are hungry on campus. I also would like to put in that the counselors here are so genuine and caring, they make sure to make us feel like we can and WILL achieve our goals and assets as long as we stick the plan they help us make! Freshman: San Joaquin Valley College is such a clean and a good study environment.
