Senior: My experience at Oklahoma City University has been a great one so far! I am a transfer student majoring in Business. When one of my advisors from community college mentioned an institution that offered a great amount of scholarships to business majors, I knew Oklahoma City University was a great fit for me financially. Not only does OCU provide scholarships, but there is a strong connection among the students and professors. The classes are smaller and there is more involvement in discussions. OCU takes in consideration of developing future leaders in our community and in the industry we attend to. I am thankful to attend to a great institution. Freshman: This is an amazing school! I have met so many unique people here and as an out of state student, everyone is so welcoming. Greek life is pretty popular, but there is still tons to do if that is not your scene. The university does a great job at holding on campus events to get freshmen and honestly anyone involved! I am a nursing major and will say that the chemistry department is slightly lacking in terms of having professors that can adequately teach such rigorous courses. There are ways to get extra assistance though which is very helpful if you actually use it. The dorms are pretty average. The towers definitely have mold in them and provide your average dorm experience, whereas Cross is more of an apartment style dorm. I lived in the towers and loved every crazy moment of it! Sophomore: Oral Roberts University is not just any ordinary university. This university is led by Holy Spirit-empowered individuals who take their time to provide the necessities for college students to succeed in their studies. Sophomore: Stillwater has a beautiful campus and a family like feel. Dorms are adequate but I think there needs to be better training for the CMs. The one I dealt with was nice enough but didn't seem to have to knowledge to deal with much of anything. There is also a lot of off campus housing that still seems like you are on campus, which is an excellent option for students with pets! There are a lot of activities and clubs to join, ranging from sports, to music and entertainment. Something that would be beneficial would be to have better access to tutors that have specified areas of expertise. Also on campus work is available for about any type of work you can think of. The professors are mostly helpful, although there are a few that are not very accessible to students for help with class work. Would like to see better on campus food options. Freshman: Science and Arts is an Incredibly welcoming and fun school. The whole time I've been here I haven't met a single rude staff member and everyone in my dorm building has been sweet and easy to talk to. USAO has the biggest dorms in Oklahoma, so there's no need to worry about sharing a shoe box with your roommate. The classes have been easy to find and all of my professors have been welcoming to the whole class. USAO is a smaller campus so there's no worry about leaving your dorm 20 minutes early to make it too class on time, however there are still tons of fun things to do and you'll always see at least one familiar face at any social gathering. I dropped all my keys on the third day of orientation and my orientation leaders helped me find them and made sure the whole campus was aware of my missing keys and they made me feel a lot better about loosing them and helped me find them in front of Sparks hall. Freshman: UCO is a great college, it's accessible and affordable, offering many scholarship and aid opportunities for incoming and current students! I am a member of the musical theatre program and the professors are incredibly welcoming and everyone in the program wants to see you succeed. The student body is fairly diverse and very supportive of everyone around them, and the school offers many opportunities for engagement on campus through student organizations, greek life, etc. The campus resources are abundant including academic advisors that are always willing to help with questions and financial resource centers for both aid and payments. The campus is fairly good sized, though not too large that it is overwhelming to navigate, and is covered in greenery and inviting areas for students to congregate or have some time to themselves in the scenic area. Sophomore: Northeastern State University is an excellent college to attend. This campus has many friendly faces to meet and outstanding professors. NSU is a perfect size if you want a school that is big enough to offer everything while not feeling too overwhelmed. This college feels like home! The only thing I think this campus lacks is enough parking for housing students. However, this school offers a very diverse setting, which is incredible because not only am I learning new things from my classes, but I am also learning all kinds of cultural things from the friends I have made from attending NortheasternState University. Graduate Student: Oklahoma City Community College was perfect for starting out my journey through college. I completed high school online, and before that I was in a private school. Because of this, I was a little intimidated integrating into a traditional school for the first time. OCCC allowed me to make this transition with no trouble. It truly is like a community in which people care about you and want you to succeed. The classes are smaller which makes it easy to connect with classmates and make friends. The teachers are communicative and make their coursework easy to understand. They provide good study materials and make the course expectations clear. OCCC is also a very affordable option, which is great when you’re just starting out. Sophomore: Although the University of Tulsa is known for being expensive, they are very generous with scholarships (I myself have managed to pay for the full cost of attendance with their help). The small class sizes are a great way to connect with both classmates and professors, and the relatively small campus size makes it easy to get to closely-scheduled classes. Plus, it's a lot easier to enroll in classes when there are fewer people competing for a spot. As for looks, the campus is beautiful -- it's got a lot of gorgeous flora and excellent sights. I feel like the ambience of the university is a huge factor of why I love attending. There are dozens of resources on campus for pretty much everything, from tutoring to career planning. The academic advisors do a great job making sure students are taking the classes they need to graduate and are interested in. Alum: My experience at OBU was fantastic! It takes time and effort, but you can find a good, supportive group of people there. The students also come with a variety of backgrounds and unique interests. I liked that I could walk to all of my classes. The teachers I had were supportive and personal. The gym had everything you would need. There were plenty of activities to get involved in as well. The environment was very relaxed. My only critique would be the food. Over time (perhaps new management) grilled chicken and other items like it seemed to become more rare or took more effort to get. The food quality didn’t seem quite as good as it used to be and the veal and other good dishes were only available when they had a day where potential future students were visiting.
