Freshman: The university of South Carolina is very diverse. The professors are very genuine and passionate about what the teach. The campus is in the heart of South Carolina, Columbia. It gives you the mix of city life in a more southern area. The students are very kind and love to have fun. The athletic teams here work very hard and continue to improve each and every season. The campus has tons of options for affordable housing. I personally find the 650 Lincoln the best. The campus has many food options, from home-cooked food, to establishments such as Chick-fil-a, jersey mikes, Starbucks, and many more options. The student life is great, and very safe. The campus has its own police force, with emergency stations placed all throughout campus. It's known that if you press an emergency station, an officer will be there to help in less than 60 seconds. Sophomore: I enjoyed the small class size, which allowed every student to easily access the office hours of a professor instead of frequently depending on the Teacher's Assistant. I also enjoyed the variety of extracurricular activities in the clubs and intramural sports, particularly, fencing, where I learned the basics of the sport and I was able to maintain the footwork and some techniques that I learned from kickboxing and boxing. However, I would love to see a major change in the night-time aesthetics. It is pitch black at night, with only a few blue towers with a red emergency button. This, along with he fact that the campus is open and has not fences, makes Winthrop a bit insecure at night for someone walking out of night classes, clubs, or meetings with friends. Freshman: Erskine has always had a welcoming feel for me. The coaches, staff and people there have always been so kind and helpful. I remember my first visit to Erskine college, it was my 8th grade year and I was heading there for my very first baseball camp. I was so excited but yet very nervous. I had no idea what to expect. Freshman: Coastal is an amazing university! The setting is inviting, the faculty is engaging and the curriculum is challenging! The warm, southern hospitality makes me feel right at home, especially when I miss my family and friends. Sophomore: BJU is a really great school! The academics provide a challenge that really makes you feel like you earned your degree. The campus life is great as well. All the students and faculty that you meet just walking around campus are very kind and friendly. The biggest thing for me is the Christian atmosphere at BJU. This school is really helping me grow as a person, academically, socially, and spiritually. The atmosphere of the school, however, (enforced by the rule book) is very conservative so if you have a problem with more traditional-style rules then this isn’t the school for you. The biggest thing I would change about the school is the price. While more affordable than some other college, financial aid is still required. Senior: I have had a wonderful experience at Limestone as a student-athlete and full time day student. As a small university, it provides smaller class sizes and you get to know all your professors very well. Additionally, it is a close-knit school, with the majority of the students attending being student-athletes. Because of the large variety of sports, there are also many international students and those from around the country that attend, making it a uniquely diverse campus. Junior: I attended years ago (in the 1980s), and I loved it then. Since then, it has expanded immensely and is 10x better than before! I love the options such as the online program, because if the flexibility with family and work. The student to teacher ratio is excellent, and the professors truly care about the students. The reason I rated the party scene as poor is that drinking is not part of the campus atmosphere. It is a Christian University. That works great for me, and I find that Christians know how to have good, clean fun and the loving support of one another, without the vices common to most college campuses. Graduate Student: I really like Limestone University because it was a great experience for me at my age. It was convenient for me attend online and still work full-time. I like also it because it is located in up-state South Carolina. The professors are great, and they give you the proper tools to finish your studies. I only had one bad experience with one professor because he did not take the time to break the subject down to me, and he just did not care. Gaffney is a small rural town, but it has a great campus and most of the students and professors are friendly and treat each other with respect. I always wanted to attend a university and I did. My major was social work, and I am elated that I took the opportunity to pursue my career in my fifties. I had several good advisors guiding me during my journey at Limestone.
