Senior: The UofM Twin Cities is an amazing public university! It offers just about any program you can think of and many of these programs are ranked extremely well in the United States, as well as around the world. Much of the faculty is involved in groundbreaking research, which enables students to be involved in research as well. The academic standards are rigorous but not too demanding to be successful. The location in the Twin Cities is wonderful for access to opportunities in the community for internships and partnerships. There are tons of student groups and activities for students to get involved in, which helps makes the large school feel smaller and offers opportunity to build a close knit community here. Having Division I sports means there is always a fun sporting event to go to, many of which are free for current students. Sophomore: After my first year of attending college, I found that the University of Minnesota Crookston had a lot to offer. Between the variety of clubs available to join, to the on-campus activities that never seemed to end, there was always something to do or someway to get involved. The classes were taught in a professional manner and gave me plenty of opportunity to learn the material. The staff were willing to help you to the best of their ability, and seemed to always be willing to go above and beyond what they needed to do. The food and dining options were nothing to write home about, but occasionally there was something exciting available. There is not much I would change about how the school operates. Sophomore: I enjoy the campus atmosphere. I made a lot of good friends, and none of my professors were terrible. Overall, very welcoming and enjoyable! I like the different events that are put on, especially the ones showcasing minorities. The push for diversity, equity, and inclusion is good to see as well. I would like to see a change in the accessibility resources department, however, because many of my friends have had bad experiences with getting accommodations, including my disabled friend who is in a wheelchair. Sophomore: Crown College has been a fantastic experience for me so far! I transferred in as a sophomore, and from the start of the year, I've been glad I made the change. Crown is a boldly Christian College, and I like many areas of it. To start, I enjoy all the events they have here. You can attend multiple sporting events and participate in intramurals, faith and film nights, yoga classes, swing dancing, Mock Rock, and more. Throughout the year, they have chapels to go to and Selah nights, led by students who sing worship songs. Additionally, the staff and professors want you to succeed. Regarding the dorms, they just built a whole new building with lots of space and room for everything. Lastly, they have a coffee shop where tons of students go to study or play some ping pong. Freshman: I really loved the small close knit community at Gustavus. If you want to have all your professors know you by name and care about you as a person I would recommend Gustavus. Freshman: In addition to the beautiful campus and friendly staff, theres a lot to love. In the (almost) five weeks i've been at Winona State University, I have fell in love with it more than I thought I would. The size of the college in terms of campus and student body is a great pro to attendance. Because of the size you're able to gain meaningful relationships with professors and peers, and if you need assistance with a certain class its not difficult to get it. The size of the university also makes finding answers to questions regarding financial aid, courses, locations, etc... much easier than with a larger university. The classes are academically challenging but in a way that urges you to take an extra step in your understanding, and the professors are there to support you. Senior: I love Concordia University. Overall, they have been amazing, the professors are awesome and always willing to help and there are always events going on. Of course, no one's perfect. I can't complain too much about their food, but it is important to students on the meal plan. Their prices are ridiculously high. The grill is fire, though. It is amazing and always has good food. The fancy lunches and dinners are not good, however. It makes sense since the food has to be made in large quantities and kept warm. When I came in as a freshman, Concordia was unbelievably welcoming! They always let you know what was happening and everyone was there for you if you needed help, your RAs, your CSP Seminar instructor, everyone. But now, no one seems to care. It's like once you get in and stay in, they no longer care. Their communication sucks and they don't bother keeping anybody in the loop. Alum: I loved my time at BSU. The first time I stepped foot on campus it felt like home. There's a warm (despite the cold!) embrace of students, no matter where they come from. The professors care deeply about student success, and they show that by going above and beyond what is normally expected of a college professor. The administration is also very caring. Due to my involvement with many student organizations, I was fortunate to meet and get to know many of the top leaders at BSU. They always had an open door. I attribute my success today from my four-years at Bemidji. Junior: North Central University is one of the finest universities out there! Especially is you're going into Worship leading, music, or ASL (American Sign Language), North Central is the place to be! Located in downtown Minneapolis, there is a rich vibrancy of culture, diversity, and different views (that you're probably not used to)! Even after only being enrolled for a year thus far, North Central has made me grow like never before. Sophomore: The atmosphere here is so welcoming! I met two of my best friends immediately on day one of classes in my freshman year. In highschool I always had a hard time making friends, but everyone is so friendly and kind here at UMD. One of the best parts is the fact that the entire campus is connected indoors (except for one further building) so in the winter, you don't have to worry about weather while moving between buildings. The dorms are also connected via tunnels, which is especially helpful if you don't want to worry about putting on winter gear before your 8am. Most of the professors are incredible and very helpful, and you can tell they're invested in helping each individual student. One of my professors from my first semester is the reason I decided on a STEM major, he rekindled my love for biology. The dining center is also wonderful. Sophomore: My overall experience with century college has been really great. I was at first at Normandale community college but then I transferred to Century College because it is much closer to my home. Since then, the commute has been great too! At Century, all of the professors are super helpful and there are always different resources for all students that attends century college. When I first joined Century, I was a bit scared and nervous, because I was new there, but eventually I got used to it. The people who goes there are all so sweet and nice. They are two incredibly qualified people that know what they're doing and I am glad to know that I am getting a quality education from them. Alum: Really great college atmosphere in a fantastic Northwoods town. The instructors that I had were very invested in their fields of study as well as making sure students understood and could apply the information being taught. They were interested in teaching students and made classes interesting and relevant. Excellent field experiences! Junior: Oak Hills has made me see college in a different light. It's unlike any other acedemic experience I've had, big or small. Their community is unmatched with professors who care about you academically and personally. They have a flourishing student life, promoting students to engage with each other on campus and out in the local community as well.
