Sophomore: I absolutely loved macu while I was there! Everyone there is so friendly and it was so easy to make friends! You feel involved with almost anything there! The events are fantastic and everyone is welcome to join them! People will look over macu because it’s a small school but this school has such a big heart. If you’re wanting to learn more about Christianity this is the place to be. If you have any question don’t even hesitate to ask them. Senior: My experience at Oklahoma City University has been a great one so far! I am a transfer student majoring in Business. When one of my advisors from community college mentioned an institution that offered a great amount of scholarships to business majors, I knew Oklahoma City University was a great fit for me financially. Not only does OCU provide scholarships, but there is a strong connection among the students and professors. The classes are smaller and there is more involvement in discussions. OCU takes in consideration of developing future leaders in our community and in the industry we attend to. I am thankful to attend to a great institution. Freshman: This is an amazing school! I have met so many unique people here and as an out of state student, everyone is so welcoming. Greek life is pretty popular, but there is still tons to do if that is not your scene. The university does a great job at holding on campus events to get freshmen and honestly anyone involved! I am a nursing major and will say that the chemistry department is slightly lacking in terms of having professors that can adequately teach such rigorous courses. There are ways to get extra assistance though which is very helpful if you actually use it. The dorms are pretty average. The towers definitely have mold in them and provide your average dorm experience, whereas Cross is more of an apartment style dorm. I lived in the towers and loved every crazy moment of it! Junior: Southern Nazarene University is a small campus that puts community, commitment, and Christ at the center of its values. No matter a student's athletic status, academic goals, or level of involvement on campus, authoritative figures intentionally pursue each one with the intent of getting them connected with other staff and peers around campus. Professors know each student by name and set aside office time to ensure they are on the track to success. Placing Christ at the center of the school's being allows students to belong to something greater than themselves. It gives students something to believe in, and creates a culture of love for all who'd like to be part of it. I love that the staff and students I have grown to know now feel like my family away from home. Sophomore: Southwestern Christian University is a small university in Bethany, Oklahoma. The close-knit nature of the community has both benefits and drawbacks. In many aspects, Southwestern Christian University's size enables a highly controlled, interactive environment. While engaging in various community events, attending chapel, playing sports, or going to class, you won't run across an unfamiliar face. A supportive network is readily available in this context, which fosters a sense of accountability, acknowledgment, and safety. This sense of community and support has been wonderful, especially as an international student from South Africa. Being all alone in America was intimidating, but at Southwestern Christian, I had a strong network of friends and mentors right away. Senior: Good school, small classes, some teachers are very understanding, some don’t care about your circumstances. Chapel is mandatory apart from if you have a job and there are strict rules you have to follow most of the time. They have events throughout the year for everyone to be involved in the school and it is an easy place to make friends.
