Junior: My college experience here at Mississippi College has been a rollercoaster of growth. My first step onto campus was delightful, and I knew I belonged in an atmosphere like the one Mississippi College offers. Sophomore: Belhaven University has one of the most unique communities that I have ever seen on a college campus. The professors care about their students and strive to know their students personally so that they are able to support them in their studies. The student body is equally wonderful if you decide to dive into it. Students are excited about getting to know and serve those around them. As a Christian school, many of the students are of the same religion and continue to do their best to show others the love of Christ. Freshman: The University of Mississippi, also called Ole Miss, has been an amazing experience for me so far. I've only been in the university for about two months, and in that short period of time, I've been able to do many things. I especially love the very high quality of the professors. They've exceeded every single one of my expectations, and I really enjoy attending their classes! I've also had a really great experience with the International Student & Scholar Services; they're staff has worked hard to ensure that I get everything I need as an international student. The campus is really beautiful, and everything seems to blend in pretty well. There's also a great sports scene if you're into that! Of course, there are some things that could use some work, such as the quality of housing and the variety of food options offered on campus. Senior: There are many things I love about southern miss! My personal favorite is the setup of campus - I'm a very directionally challenged individual, and even I could navigate the campus after a short time. The campus offers a variety of places to eat, study, and participate in extracurricular events. My favorite places are the Payne recreation center and the Cook Library. Of course, there are some downsides. I disliked the credit hour cap each semester - why can I take 19 credit hours but not 20? Why do intercession courses count toward the full session? While that has yet (and, hopefully, never will) affected my degree progress, I have had several friends and classmates who took a long time to graduate because they were only allowed to take up to 6 classes a semester. Freshman: MSU is a friendly, welcoming, and supportive college. Everyone here is willing to help and always available to answer any questions. Students here feel like family and make college life enjoyable! There are so many social events and activities that make college fun and exciting. The campus itself is very beautiful and well maintained. I enjoy sitting outside and relaxing under a shade tree. There’s so many places to study that are quiet and peaceful. The dorms are some of the best I’ve seen. They are very spacious and come equipped with a refrigerator, bed, dresser, and a desk. There is plenty of closet space along with storage under the bed for your extra belongings. There are kitchens and laundry rooms available to make living on campus more convenient. There are many great restaurants on campus like Panda Express, Pizza Hut, Subway, and Chick-Fil-A just to mention a few, not to forget the cafeteria. The food here is really good. Alum: My first year at Delta State was the year the school changed from being a college to a full fledged university. My experience there was outstanding. The courses that were included in my degree program have served me well. I use lessons I learned from those classes everyday in my profession. I really appreciated the number of electives offered and the vast variety available. It gave me the opportunity to check out other departments and graduate with a couple of minor degrees as well as my major. The professors were great. They cared about their students. Not only did they care about us in the classroom - whether we grasped the materials, but also as a person. One of my professors changed a tire for me one day. I made a lot of lifelong friends at Delta State. While there were a few thousand students attending, that feeling of community was ever present. Alum: I attended the Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College. The main campus is located about 45 minutes away in Goodman, Mississippi. Holmes in Ridgeland is a great school. The teachers and employees at the school seem genuinely happy to be working with students of all ages and backgrounds. There is an array of different education opportunities, including trades, provided at the college. Scholarships as well as work-based learning opportunities are available for students, whether first-time or non-traditional. The cafeteria is well-stocked with both hot and cold food options available morning and afternoon. There are vending machines in each building. The campus is beautiful and well maintained. There is landscaping and sidewalks throughout. The offices are easy to find and staffed fully. The professors offer normal office hours and seem to be willing to help. Freshman: I have just been enrolled in Itawamba Community College. I recently attended the class of 2025 orientation, and it was perfection. There are three different campus' and I attended orientation at the largest location. The campus offers various clubs and extracurricular activities as well as programs encouraging successful learning. I was anxious to attend college knowing that this is my career I am pursuing, and my life depends on my performance at ICC. I was pleased to see the involvement of helpful staff during this event. Before orientation, I had questions regarding the requirements for enrollment and every member of staff gave immediate response that instantly resolved my confusion. If I could change one thing, it would be for the other location I will be attending to offer the same involvement and activities.
