Junior: I love how community based the school is. It's small enough so that everyone is connected in some way and often when you're friends with one person they know a different friend in some way and it's like one giant family. Everyone is so incredibly nice on campus, and there are so many opportunities to participate in research or volunteering. Alum: Northeastern provides lots of amenities to make students with different backgrounds comfortable. Lots of offerings help students feel supported in their mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing (e.g. meditation/prayer room, mental wellness programs, gym incl. group fitness programs, cafes on campus incl. Starbucks). The School is in the city, however still is one big campus which is rather rare for city campuses. I've had a good experience with my classes. There is a big variety to choose from. The international students could have been better integrated into the American student body. However clubs on campus allowed to meet people from all backgrounds. The variety of clubs and initiatives on campus is vast! The school has a great connection to the industry and the co-op program allows you to graduate with practical experience. Sophomore: I am a half American half Spanish kid who grew up for most of my life in Spain. So, when I got accepted into Elms I was excited and nervous at the same time to be living so far away from my family and friends. Having said this, the campus experience was very welcoming and diverse, which I really appreciated and it made me feel at home. Freshman: Currently, I'm a student at Simmons University. While there's a lot wrong with the school (...Bartol), there are also some great things. All of my professors have been very dedicated to seeing me succeed, and are willing to put in extra time and effort to help me. Everyone I've met is either extremely friendly, or at least cordial, and I've made some of my best friends here. The dorms aren't great, but they also aren't awful. You can put in a work order, and usually, things get fixed. If you decorate, it will feel less like a jail cell. This school is STEM-focused, so humanities majors may find resources lacking, but the professors in humanities departments will acknowledge this. It's also great for LGBT students, as you won't be the minority. However, for POC students, there is work to be done. There are a lot of events specifically for POC students, though! Freshman: Most staff members are genuinely really nice and understanding, though some departments have notoriously underqualified professors (especially the math department). There are a range of courses offered, so you can try a lot of different things and maybe even discover more about yourself! I always knew I was interested in cinema, for example, but I am taking Cinema 101 at the moment and it made me consider minoring in the subject. I really recommend taking a variety of classes! The campus is pretty small, so it's hard to get lost (even for someone like me, who is really bad with directions). It's also really pretty, it has an ocean view and there's so many cute squirrels and rabbits running around! It can get pretty cold, though, due to the aforementioned ocean being right next to the university. Junior: I enjoy the nursing program and the students I am with. The profs are all very helpful. We as nursing students get clinical experience a year before most schools which is great! Freshman year I lived in a dorm. Since then I have been in an off campus apartment with my best friends and it has been great. The area around school is not the safest especially at night so it is important to travel with others and be aware of you surroundings. Classes are definitely tricky, but the teachers care about you. Any nursing school is difficult, but with time management, peers, and determination it is do able. I have made some friends I think I will have for life here! There are some events on campus such as shows, bingo which lots of people go to, sporting events, etc. It is a smaller school, but I prefer that. Alum: I went to Regis undergrad nursing and graduated 5.5 years ago. I had lived in campus and had a wonderful time. It is a small college but that appealed to me because I didn’t want to be in a lecture hall with 400 other people. My biggest class size was about 35 people and it was a lecture course. There was a pretty good array of extra curricular activities for those like Me that don’t do sports. I enjoyed campus ministry and in my freshman year, I was a part of the theatre troupe and put on the play Godspell. I do wish there had been more plays or musicals during my time. The biggest problem during my time there was the food. The dining hall struggled to provide good nutrition but by my senior year they had hired a new company and were making good strives to fix it. There was also a Dunkin’ on campus which was awesome and then the LSU had a grill and premade meals.
