Junior: This school incorporates a lot: educations, religion and culture and I love it all. It’s a great school where you feel safe while learning. There are people from all around the world so the diversity is incredible! They university has a rich history and culture that they incorporate in our learning. The class sizes are small and personal so I feel like the learning environment is a lot better because I can establish relationships with both the professors and the students that help me succeed. There is so much help given outside of class too, again helping us succeed in our studies. I would say because it’s a small campus too, it’s easy to know many people including your advisor. Our advisors care about us and do so much for us. My advisor has met with me several times and helps me stay on course for graduation and every time I meet with her I feel heard and valued. Freshman: Aloha, My name is Ashlyn Grace Balanay and I am currently an undergraduate student at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU). First off, HPU is a beautiful and gorgeous place that is right next to the water. Including the Aloha Tower that always have beautiful lights that turn on at night. In addition, there are plenty of restaurants, food markets, and a grocery market. Most importantly, the fun part is that we have an esports arena; where you can play games to distress and have some fun. We have a lot of seating areas for you study and socialize with friends; and if sitting outside isn’t for you, you can walk into the learning commons or library for to study. You can always make reservations for yourself or a group of friends you want to study with. Here at HPU we have small classes that help you socialize with teachers and classmates, it’s much better for one on one conversations and meeting a new friend. Freshman: Although I have only experienced my first semester of freshman year, the standards of this college have met my peaceful expectations and have been since I have marked my interest in middle school. Their environment and structures have simple, yet elegant beauty with intelligent staff who are extremely supportive towards each other and the students. Personally, the institution is highly convenient for me in both travel and tuition, compared to all other universities on the island. (And although the college is cheaper, their food is plenty, diverse, and very delectable!) I also strongly appreciate their charm in the arts and science degrees as I, myself, am an artist! Freshman: I love Honolulu Community College. The environment and space are welcoming, effective and also efficient. There's library's, multiple work-study spaces, an amazing cafeteria. A place where you are able to learn and to always be stress-free. One thing I'd necessarily change is guidance through school. Although they do have staff available to help with questions, concerns. Freshman: I love the online class, and the teachers! I finally got the weekly discussions, homework and exams down as far as due dates. It has been good for me so far and love it. Got a few more months ahead before completion so I honestly can't wait! It has been an exciting journey for me learning the Healthcare Administration. Looking forward to learning the ICD-10 and coding part in a few months ahead. My whole goal in doing a career change is since covid, I was looking for working hybrid and being able to work from home to be safe. I take care of my elderly mom who needs care at all times. Between myself and 4 other siblings, we each have a part in taking care of our mother and it has not been easy but we now manage. Learing the healthcare administration will also help me learn and how to treat our mother's health as well.
