Junior: I came into Rice as a transfer student this past semester. I'm happy to say I've found a place where I feel completely welcomed and appreciated. This is where I was meant to be. I am academically challenged and my curiosity is constantly mirrored in my classmates/friends. The conversations are fun and the people are genuine. Don't think that you can't apply because of how competitive it looks. They really practice the holistic approach and if you bring your unique story, passion, and perspective you have a shot. Freshman: When first enrolling, I thought the campus was huge! But after going through the tour, and learning about the information on each floor and room, I really started to see how the campus was just right. Not overly huge, but also not as small to mistakenly think of the university as a community college. I also mistakenly thought how I would go through my 4 years of college experience without any friends, but I am glad to state how my assumptions were proven wrong! Every professor I attended would assign their students to a group for the entire semester, so once mid-terms would come around the corner, I find myself having a good handful of friends in each class I attended from that assigned group. As for group, clubs, and others, the campus is always making sure that a student can connect with a team - so always expect an email or two regarding a list of clubs or groups that that campus think fits your personality/character/academic achievement and whatnot.... Alum: As a graduate of the Texas Southern University Jesse H. Jones School of Business and Honors College, I recommend this institution for all your higher education needs. Most of my professors and advisors were excellent, most of my learning facilities were modern and top notch, and Houston is such an amazing city with so much to explore off campus. The cost of TSU has gone up tremendously so I highly recommend applying to as many scholarships as possible! If you're out of state, I recommend getting Texas residency first for cheaper tuition which is relatively easy to do (do your research). Also the cost of living near campus has gone up tremendously so I highly recommend finding a roommate who has a lot in common with you to help lower the cost ... Iiving alone can be costly. If you can't seem to find a roommate with a lot in common with you, just find a STEM major. STEM majors usually spend a lot of time doing school related stuff ... barely see or hear from them.... Sophomore: Lee College is a cheap and easy way to get a college education. For the price, you get a pretty good education. Professors are there to help you, they understand when situations occur and are willing to work with you. Email and keep in contact with your professors! It's a well known community college for a reason. The professors are good at what they do, some are less communicative or involved than others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because some classes are very straightforward and don't need lots of involvement. Every professor I've had is willing to work with you, keeps in contact, and responds to emails within a day. The courses have the same rigor as other colleges and even some universities.
