Freshman: After 3 weeks as a freshman, it’s been a great experience so far, especially meeting new people. Before starting school, we went on a weekend retreat to Hume Lake where I met students and enjoyed 2 days of activities. It was fun and we all bonded well, making friends and getting to know each other. My new chapter started the following Monday, and at each new classroom I found my new friends I had met at the lake. What a breakthrough moment, no awkwardness because we immediately sat next to each other to enjoy our 1st day. The professors all have PHDs and an open door policy for face to face interaction after class. The lines are short or non existent so you get in and out quickly. I’ve already built strong friendships with other students and we already study together when necessary. And, we’ve had our first dinner outing too just for fun, shopping included! Freshman: Despite numerous challenges I had with transcripts, classes, and technology errors, Fresno State's Kremen academic advising team was extremely helpful and worked dilligently to help me enroll this last semester. Now that the fall semester has begun, I enjoy all of my classes thoroughly. I have never been more confident that elementary education is what I want to do! Pouring into their students, the professors actually care about the material they are teaching. When a professor is as passionate about the subject as the students, it becomes contagious! Fresno State has successfully cultivated a community of students and professors where I know I am supported on my academic journey. Senior: Fresno city college is an Amazing School. While I can only speak from my experience, all the professors I’ve had were excellent, passionate about what they teach and extremely knowledgeable- so much so you wonder why they are teaching at a community college! But they genuinely want to help their students succeed in whatever field/career/path they choose. FCC is also extremely diverse and you meet so many different people from different walks of life, and everyone is really respectful and understanding of different kinds of people. I struggle with pretty intense mental health issues and I’ve always felt accepted and have been met with empathy and compassion from fellow students and professors alike.I’ve learned so much, and have met so many incredible professors and people. Sophomore: Easy to register, easy to enroll for classes and easy to access a counselor. The dashboard is easy to use when doing online courses. The programs and professors are very well qualified. Staff is very friendly when we need to speak to admissions, financial aid or business office. I completed my health care interpreting program back in May 2021. Now I am studying American Sign Language. This college has amazing majors and it is so easy to get through an education at this campus, whether its in person or online. Reedley College includes a Reedley Middle College program for students that want to get ready for college. This campus is very well structured with student's needs. It also includes support for disabled students that want to pursue their education. I am also proud of my college, because it includes an Adult Transition Program that helps kids obtain their diploma after completing a certificate in high school.
