Sophomore: APUS has been incredibly beneficial to me as I have been able to work as a full-time student as well as a full-time reservist in the USAF. I really enjoy the compatibility opportunities I have with other students through discussion posts, online videos, and peer reviews. AMU is consistently improving their websites, customer service options, and ways students can be involved. The only thing I would add is a website, staff, and designated opportunities that provides high schoolers with a smoother transition to college. Freshman: Overall, WVU is a very good school, they have something for every type of person. There are resources available for any and all students seeking academic, physical, emotional, or social support. There are so many activities every day of the week that are totally free to students (hiking, exercise classes, games, etc.) and there is always something going on on campus. Though WVU is a big school, it certainly doesn't feel like it. Campus is also surrounded by many shops and restaurants which are walkable from downtown or Evansdale. Everyone from the custodial to the residential to the dining hall staff goes out of their way to make any and all students feel welcomed and valued. Most of the people here you will meet are very nice and always willing to talk or help you. WVU is known to be a huge party school - while nightlife certainly is a part of our weekends there's also countless other activities (such as UpAllNight) as an alternative activity. Sophomore: Fairmont State University is very lovely and quant. Everyone is super lovely, especially the staff. When you first go to FSU during the beginning of school, there are so many people that are there to help you and guide you. You will certainly find how easy it is to fit in. The professors are super friendly and because FSU isn’t a massive college, you always will have a one-on-one connection with your professor. Junior: Bridge Valley Community and Technical College has been an amazing experience so far. Fall of 2021 I transferred from Marshall University to Bridge Valley and it was the best academic decision I have made. Bridge Valley’s Professor are very understanding and will help you step by step. Overall the school has been better for me finically and academically. Sophomore: Davis and Elkins College is located in a rural and unpopulated town in West Virginia. This is somewhat nerve racking to those who are international students and those who come from across the country to further their education and athletics, but at D&E everyone is family. The student body is super connected and encouraging of one another, also very inclusive and diverse. You know everyone on campus and will never go a day without a couple friendly conversations and fun memories. One thing that is a little disappointing is the college is located in such an unpopulated area, so there might not always be an event being advertised or talked about that is happening locally. Do not fret, although something may not be advertised there is always an adventure awaiting in the hills of the wild and wonderful West Virginia.
