Junior: I absolutely adore ETSU! It has been such an incredible place to call home. Coming from over an hour away, and never having been to Johnson City before, I had no reason to believe this would become home for me. Despite this prior hesitancy, this place has become home. From the other students to faculty and staff, you are more than just a number here. Some larger universities it feels as though you are just another check to the university's bank account, YOU ARE NOT HERE. These people care and the location is beautiful. The faculty pushes you to go farther and beyond just the walls of the classroom. Study abroad opportunities are bountiful, and internships are easy to come by. Freshman: The MTSU experience has been phenomenal so far, and I love the dining hall! The food is always good quality and the staff is always friendly and nice, my professors care about education and they care about my personal educational journey. One thing I would change about the college however is expanding the on campus therapy available to students. The amount of other utilities that the campus provides in the rec center, pharmacy, and clinic are immense and the amount of food options and entertainment are enormous, but the attempt to focus on mental health is very thin. The therapy center is very tiny and only offers two sessions. They also aren't really all that good at dealing with really serious stuff. Sophomore: My experience at Christian Brothers University so far has been meaningful and very memorable. The tight-knit community that surrounds the institution encourages each Indvidual to embrace their identity and be themselves around campus. They are lots of experiences and opportunities for students to express themselves and grow in their image. Faculty and staff take time to know the students which helps the students excel in their college no matter what major they are in. The success network that is provided for each student is a great system for the school. Freshman: Belmont has been a great experience so far. All of the people have been nothing short of inviting and welcoming. Initially what drew me to Belmont was the music atmosphere and the location, but upon my first time visiting I completely fell in love with the campus. The campus and the University's grounds are absolutely captivating, and I especially love the campus because it makes it feel more like home and less like school. This school is notably known for its music programs, but it has some other amazing programs as well, and the school is constantly working towards improving their programs every year. No matter what you are majoring in, there are great networking opportunities here in Nashville, and there is always something fun to do! Freshman: When I first visited Tennessee State University, it made me change my perspective on college in general. Because of the tour, my mind was then set on an HBCU (Historically Black College University) The way they embodied and embraced family at the school, made me more comfortable with my decision on going. I recently just experienced orientation there in June, and I can definitely say it made me more confident with leaving home behind. Sophomore: I have enjoyed many things at Roane State. A few of the things I’ve like about this school is the willingness to help each student from the financial aid office, the staff, and the advisors. Bring a first generation graduate, I’ve had to figure out many things myself, but thanks to the people at Roane State, it hasn’t been difficult. Another thing I like about Roane State is that there is always free food on Wednesdays. Yummy! Another thing I’ve enjoyed is how there is always some type of event where students can participate in and win things. One thing I would like to see changed is the way the Harriman campus looks. The inside is fine itself, but the outside looks dull and not welcoming. A few more plants, a few more colors, and pressure washing the outside of the building would make it look slight better. Junior: I am a transfer student with an Associates in Fine Arts ; my transfer was extremely effortless as well as campus housing . Wesleyan University is very welcoming you feel right at home. They are still working on my 504 accommodations that process seems slow even though that paperwork was delivered 5mths ago. Disability services needs an update, probably more people in that department to insure a good paper trail to students information especially with personal information. Senior: I transferred to Johnson back in 2021. For the past two years (sophomore and junior), my time here has been transformative. Initially, it was hard transitioning from a bigger school to the culture of a small school. Now, I have grown to love it here! I love the professors because they are passionate, fun, and understanding. The faculty here genuinely care about the student body. Johnson offers that rare opportunity to be friends with your professors and faculty here which brings a deeper feeling of connection. Some things I would change are the level of communication between students and faculty, curfew, and dining hours. Many times students don't know what's going on and are left blindsided. Curfew is not necessary, especially for upperclassmen. Lastly, dining hours should be extended for at least another hour to accommodate athletes and other schedules.... Read 305 reviews
