Sophomore: Stillwater has a beautiful campus and a family like feel. Dorms are adequate but I think there needs to be better training for the CMs. The one I dealt with was nice enough but didn't seem to have to knowledge to deal with much of anything. There is also a lot of off campus housing that still seems like you are on campus, which is an excellent option for students with pets! There are a lot of activities and clubs to join, ranging from sports, to music and entertainment. Something that would be beneficial would be to have better access to tutors that have specified areas of expertise. Also on campus work is available for about any type of work you can think of. The professors are mostly helpful, although there are a few that are not very accessible to students for help with class work. Would like to see better on campus food options. Freshman: This is an amazing school! I have met so many unique people here and as an out of state student, everyone is so welcoming. Greek life is pretty popular, but there is still tons to do if that is not your scene. The university does a great job at holding on campus events to get freshmen and honestly anyone involved! I am a nursing major and will say that the chemistry department is slightly lacking in terms of having professors that can adequately teach such rigorous courses. There are ways to get extra assistance though which is very helpful if you actually use it. The dorms are pretty average. The towers definitely have mold in them and provide your average dorm experience, whereas Cross is more of an apartment style dorm. I lived in the towers and loved every crazy moment of it! Freshman: UCO is a great college, it's accessible and affordable, offering many scholarship and aid opportunities for incoming and current students! I am a member of the musical theatre program and the professors are incredibly welcoming and everyone in the program wants to see you succeed. The student body is fairly diverse and very supportive of everyone around them, and the school offers many opportunities for engagement on campus through student organizations, greek life, etc. The campus resources are abundant including academic advisors that are always willing to help with questions and financial resource centers for both aid and payments. The campus is fairly good sized, though not too large that it is overwhelming to navigate, and is covered in greenery and inviting areas for students to congregate or have some time to themselves in the scenic area. Graduate Student: Oklahoma City Community College was perfect for starting out my journey through college. I completed high school online, and before that I was in a private school. Because of this, I was a little intimidated integrating into a traditional school for the first time. OCCC allowed me to make this transition with no trouble. It truly is like a community in which people care about you and want you to succeed. The classes are smaller which makes it easy to connect with classmates and make friends. The teachers are communicative and make their coursework easy to understand. They provide good study materials and make the course expectations clear. OCCC is also a very affordable option, which is great when you’re just starting out. It has very helpful resources like the writing center, where people assist you in building upon your language skills. It is easy to find help when you need it. Junior: This university has such a diverse group of students in it. There's athletes, scholars, and in between all over campus. The culture is rich and there's usually weekly activities! The facilities are all nice, and dorm life is still exceptional even if being in a dorm is not ideal. Junior: I love ECU. I have made so many friends here in such a small amount of time. I believe the small size of the campus allows students to interact with one another more often. Because of the small size of the campus, class sizes usually follow suit. This allows for much more interaction with professors than other "big name" universities. Professors always seem to be available throughout the day and respond to emails very quickly. Tutors are readily available in many of the departments, so there is always someone on hand willing to help! There is a lot to do on campus other than just schoolwork. The Wellness Center is available most hours of the day, and sports a basketball gym, weight room, racquetball rooms, swimming pool, and a room for crossfit! There are also many tennis courts and volleyball pits to be found on campus as well as crowds of students willing to play! Extracurriculars are abundant and are always seeking more membership.... Sophomore: I'm a student from the Bahamas currently enrolled at the great LU. Langston University is one of the best experiences thus far since birth, for it provided me with numerous life lessons and morals. Langston University has also introduced me to a vast amount of new cultures, experiences, friends, and even a higher form of learning. This is why I wouldn't change institutions for anything. However, it has also been the eminent cause of stress and hardship among me and my mother. Honestly, there is not much support or resources that are equipped to assist foreigners. Therefore, I'm barely surviving on campus.
