Senior: There are many things I love about southern miss! My personal favorite is the setup of campus - I'm a very directionally challenged individual, and even I could navigate the campus after a short time. The campus offers a variety of places to eat, study, and participate in extracurricular events. My favorite places are the Payne recreation center and the Cook Library. Of course, there are some downsides. I disliked the credit hour cap each semester - why can I take 19 credit hours but not 20? Why do intercession courses count toward the full session? While that has yet (and, hopefully, never will) affected my degree progress, I have had several friends and classmates who took a long time to graduate because they were only allowed to take up to 6 classes a semester. Freshman: I have just been enrolled in Itawamba Community College. I recently attended the class of 2025 orientation, and it was perfection. There are three different campus' and I attended orientation at the largest location. The campus offers various clubs and extracurricular activities as well as programs encouraging successful learning. I was anxious to attend college knowing that this is my career I am pursuing, and my life depends on my performance at ICC. I was pleased to see the involvement of helpful staff during this event. Before orientation, I had questions regarding the requirements for enrollment and every member of staff gave immediate response that instantly resolved my confusion. If I could change one thing, it would be for the other location I will be attending to offer the same involvement and activities. Senior: I love the engineering department of valley and how even though its a male dominated industry they encourage their female students to be just as or even better than their male coworkers. I also love how they have many organizations such as LSMAMP, WIST, and NSBE to help us gain networking connections, mentors, and internships.
