Community support both for academics and athletics helps propel Emporia State. After we graduate, we are given excellent opportunities to pursue our careers and start internships, this is because professional worksites acknowledge how well Emporia State teaches their students and sets them up for success. With a student body not too big or too small, there are plenty of opportunities to make new friends. Along with making friends, students at Emporia State also create strong, positive relationships with their professors. Freshman: I transferred to Baker University for the Spring semester (2021) and have absolutely loved it so far! The admissions department was understanding of my situation at my former institution and extremely helpful in getting everything in order for the transition. All of my credits from high school and my previous University transferred over and I was able to get into all the classes that applied with my major. Another thing I have noticed since being at Baker is how involved the student body is in different activities and events the Student Life Office and other school organizations, like Sororities, have throughout the week. On most days there is a new club/group handing out snacks or fun items to students and inviting us to participate in the activity they are hosting. They have so many resources for students for all kinds of situations including research opportunities, on-campus jobs, tutoring, financial assistance and so much more. Sophomore: My first year at Butler was amazing! I met two of my bestest friends on only the first day of school! The teachers are also great. My public speaking class, which I was nervous for, turned out to be my favorite class of my whole first year! My biology professor made everything easy to understand and related the topics to our lives so we would better understand. I was also lucky enough to have the same teacher for two different classes which was really helpful since I already knew how she ran everything. The environment is small yet welcoming which makes it very easy to talk to people even as an introvert. I have also attended multiple sporting events which had high energy throughout the whole game! Freshman: My overall experience with Haskell Indian Nations University has been great. My experiences have been only good with the administration and the people who run the school or buildings that are on campus. The workers here are always nice and very accommodating to every religion, and they understand the struggle that is going on with almost every student coming from the same background or something similar. You can feel do you love and want every student to graduate in almost every single employee here teacher. They know most things if not all of what to do in the specific area that they work in. With the school being a government-assisted reservation, we have many opportunities to thrive and get classes that can help our degree at a lower-than-average cost. Freshman: I like that it is a quarterly school because I can get my degree on a quicker timeline! I wish it was more cost efficient, but the faculty is great about being helpful and working with everyone to achieve their goals. I have enjoyed all of my professors so far because they’re willing to stay up late and/or offer additional resources to make sure that you understand what’s being taught in class so that you succeed. No one is left behind and I admire that overall moral that is shown so everyone that is apart of the program. I’m currently in nursing and it may be hard, but Rasmussen has so many reliable resources available at all times. It’s amazing the different outlets that can be used to aid in homework, tutoring, extra knowledge, and overall a better understanding of all of the courses.
