Sophomore: First of all, what i liked the most is the empathy the professors have towards the students. They also try their best to encourage and help their students in their academic journey. For instance, i'm a french major, and thanks to my french professor i was able to study a semester abroad in Canada. I can say my professors were the ones who motivated me into taking that step out of my comfort zone. They also helped me with the necessary documents like for example, recommendation letters. Alum: The best college of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Each course helps you shape you as a human being and professional. I graduated from my bachelors from the School of Architecture after exploring and growing from other faculties. Majors offered at the UPR include: Medicine, Law, Architecture, Engineering, Drama, Business Management, Humanities, Psychology, and more. Students from the UPR are constantly solicited from demanding jobs, including NASA. During the past years, since the arrival of an imposed Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico (FOMBPR), because of illegal actions carried out by government figures and the colonial status that holds PR back, the UPR has suffered significantly. Fund cuts are constant under the FOMBPR which are directly to healthcare rights and the island’s education system. Senior: I think a lot of great professors are taken for granted, by faculty and by students (including myself at one point). I had an amazing time with the research opportunity I had, but I think they should talk more about those opportunities because students are left in the dark. I was able to find it because of another student. I applied to the work and study program for 2 consecutive years and they never contacted me. I even went to the library for 2 weeks, almost everyday, because I was trying to get on a list for a job, and they kept telling me to come back later, until the last day when they told me they had just sent the list and I couldn't get on it. I don't think it's a bad university, but just keep in mind the students have to stay on top of things and insist on what they want/need. Junior: The amazing campus, my college students, the opportunity of students associations such as Asociación Círculo Literario Revolución Expresiva, all of my professors, the opportunities to apply for study abroad and internships, the multiple bachelors degrees anyone can apply is what I love most. I need to highlight that anyone can apply for a second mayor or minor which it is very convenient. On another hand, I suggest more transparency of the money administration. Freshman: I always wanted to study at this university since I was told that in the nursing field they were well prepared. The moment I visited the campus and the nursing department I loved it, it was well prepared and equipped to learn and leave as a professional. From the first day I went for orientation the process was easy and fairly quick. I had to wait a bit for my transcript since I had completed an associate's degree at another institution, but as soon as it arrived they worked through all my admissions via email very quickly. The professors look like they know what they are teaching, they are generally helpful to the student as well as the university itself has different methods to help the student. Sophomore: From my experience as a student at this institution, it's an excellent place to study. The campus is filled with trees and vegetation which gives it a very nice atmosphere. Personally, that's one of my favorite traits of this college. The student community is very nice and are always willing to help. There are a good variety of associations for you to join no matter your major. Unfortunately, if you want to join a sports team there's only a few choices. Just like any other institution, there's good professor and the ones that give you a hard time, but don't let that stop you from achieving your dreams.
