Junior: Angelo State University has been very helpful to me and my future. The time I have spent here at this school has been useful. I have got an internship at an insurance company to start accounting, none of this would be possible without this university. I have had so many accounting classes that has extended my knowledge to bring me to this point. The staff has also been amazing! Alum: When I applied to UNT as a graduate student (my second graduate degree), I was a bit worried about the rigor of the program because my previous two universities were much higher ranked. I was so surprised! I absolutely loved my time at UNT; beautiful and safe campus, knowledgeable and friendly professors, and the rigor of my coursework was actually better than my previous degrees. When I mentioned that I was enrolled at UNT, I would often hear how people who had done their undergraduate degrees at UT Austin or A & M College Station had gone on to complete masters degrees at UNT and “loved it!” I couldn’t agree more. Freshman: This campus feels like a home away from home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, always making sure you are having fun and exploring new and exciting places in Canyon. Most of the professors I have encountered are really charismatic and humorous; they make classes exciting and enjoyable even when you have one at 8:00 am. The campus itself is beautiful with lots of places for relaxation and hang outs. It is currently undergoing some new developments which will make student living a lot more reliable and dependable. If you do not have a car, it is a little difficult to venture out and explore what Canyon has to offer, as well as the food on campus can sometimes get a little repetitive with the most common foods being pizza and burgers. Niche User: I currently take dual credit classes and I went there recently to tour the campus. While the campus was well taken care of, It wasn't in the best area, but they have a 24-hour on-campus police and security section. The people there were very nice and helpful I got to speak to an admissions counselor and a finical aid advisor. The faculty was very friendly and they have lots of great resources to make sure that you thrive at the college, they have multiple free tutoring resources available online and in person. They have tons of options for your degree and they even have trade schools! Something that I noticed while taking their dual credit class is that the teachers are very helpful and willing to take time and help you, they respond to emails and texts really fast and it just seems like they actually want to succeed not just pass. Sophomore: Overall, my community college was and still is an amazing experience! All of the professors that I've had throughout my years of being enrolled in the institution were always very professional and helpful when it came to students needs while taking their course. Every professor went above and beyond to make sure I grasped the different subjects that were discussed if I ever at one point lacked any understanding. Alum: Sam Houston State University is a very warm environment with professors who really care about providing an excellent educational experience. I especially appreciated how quickly my professors responded to my emails, and there was never a moment where I felt that I was taking this college journey alone. There are also various student organizations that not only help students get connected with others on campus, but there are also lots of volunteer opportunities to help students get involved with the community of Huntsville. Sophomore: Collin College has been a great stepping stone for me. I have never felt so myself and confident because of how diverse Collin’s environment is. I enjoy going to school and feel that every professor and staff member there wants you to succeed. I really like how inclusive they make the school activities and how it’s free for everyone. I would like to see an even stricter security outside of the school. We do have security inside, but there is not a scanning component at the entrances so anyone is free to enter. Unfortunately, I wonder if that could come back to haunt us. The student council is really good at listening and understanding what is best for us students, so I do have hope that an open conversation could change the security system for the better. Junior: I have been at blinn for majority of my college experience and excited to graduate the surgical tech program (the professors in this program are top tier) next year! Blinn as a whole is a great school when trying to factor in cost and the efficiency of the school. I have had some issues with professors in the past and then unable to drop the class even though they (the professors) were unprofessional. The faculty in the admissions is great, I’ve never had an issue. I would love to see the advising department become a little more enthusiastic about helping the students. As for the financial aid department, they are helpful to an extent. I’ve always struggled with getting aid even though I’ve been independent since I was 17, but as far as the schools concerned that does not qualify you to get appropriate aid. They are super friendly in that department but not very helpful regarding some unfortunate circumstances. As for the party life, it’s non existent unless you know people already.... It's a helpful and cost-effective way to get your basics done and out of the way while not having to pay the considerably higher price tags that 4-year universities like to put on their introductory classes. The teachers and students I've met are all very nice, the campus isn't that bad looking and the fries in the student cafe are heavenly. My favorite parts are when the clubs or the school itself hold festivals and such. I've received a custom-made license plate, flowers, and even ice cream for free at them! Alum: I spent two semesters at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus to get my Associates of Science. My instructors were almost all excellent, very understanding, and helpful, with the exception of a single online course I took (it was essentially a weekly assigned reading and essay with minimal teacher interaction). There are abundant resources on campus for students, with tutoring and dedicated help centers separated by subject. The extracurriculars were also fun. I got involved in the school's math club, music club, and philosophy club (Pi club, NW Music Association, and Plato's cave). It being a community college, the clubs were relatively small (5-10 people), which made it feel much more personal. The campus also has a gym and pool that are free to use, which was VERY awesome. The cafeteria is a bit lacking, being a Subway and some vending machines, so definitely bring a lunch. Most of my professors and advisors were excellent, most of my learning facilities were modern and top notch, and Houston is such an amazing city with so much to explore off campus. The cost of TSU has gone up tremendously so I highly recommend applying to as many scholarships as possible! If you're out of state, I recommend getting Texas residency first for cheaper tuition which is relatively easy to do (do your research). Also the cost of living near campus has gone up tremendously so I highly recommend finding a roommate who has a lot in common with you to help lower the cost ... Iiving alone can be costly. Junior: Never would I imagine that I would make it to a University and get the best experience. And yet here I am, my experience of being a student at St. Edward's University have been fantastic! Freshman: Navarro College provides many great opportunities for it's students. There are very diverse ranges of classes & professors. In my personal experience, my professors are always encouraging to ask questions and be open with them. This obviously makes my piers and I more comfortable and more open to learning constantly. They provide a sense of compassion that I have never experienced in my whole life when it comes to education. It makes me eager to push myself past my expectations and also break barriers. The campus is also beautiful. Being that it is a junior college it is smaller when compared to 4 year institutions but this takes nothing from it. All of my classes are within a few minutes of walking from my dorm, it is very easy to get from point A to point B. There are many places you can study and get help as well, there is always faculty members around campus and they are always eager to answer any questions that can help you.
