Senior: My experience at Alcorn so far has been nothing short of a crazy rollercoaster ride. I have been blessed enough to be apart of the women’s soccer program for my first two years here. I am now apart of Alcorn cheerleading team. I am currently the social media chair for our senior class cabinet. Also I’m a Cargill thrive scholar on campus. I like that I was able to be involved in many different groups on campus. And meet different people and learn about different cultures within the organizations. I would like to see a change with putting the students needs first. Like I said I have been apart of many organizations on campus, and in all of them there was one common thing. They asked for more support from the school to have things that a PWI or any other university would have. For example when I was on the soccer team none of the teams except football and basketball had proper locker rooms. As apart of SGA now we barely have support from Alcorn to host a welcome event.... Senior: There are many things I love about southern miss! My personal favorite is the setup of campus - I'm a very directionally challenged individual, and even I could navigate the campus after a short time. The campus offers a variety of places to eat, study, and participate in extracurricular events. My favorite places are the Payne recreation center and the Cook Library. Of course, there are some downsides. I disliked the credit hour cap each semester - why can I take 19 credit hours but not 20? Why do intercession courses count toward the full session? While that has yet (and, hopefully, never will) affected my degree progress, I have had several friends and classmates who took a long time to graduate because they were only allowed to take up to 6 classes a semester. Freshman: I liked that the community college itself is well organized just like other institutions are having three different campuses of the same college. It's school that is not very expensive and makes a great start to earning any sort of degrees in particular. They also have technical programs that many students can be involved in to have prior experience of working in the field of their desired occupation they want to go for. Colin also works hand to hand with many financially supportive organizations and programs in which they offer a lot of assistance to any student's needs throughout college. Colin also does a lot of community events as well, along with different fairs that would include Job fairs, College fairs, and even Career fairs in which students can learn more about their major in college. Alum: MCC has great scholarships, good choices in classes, and decent advisors. The school feels very much like a high school in the way teachers act towards students and the lack of a creative curriculum.
