Freshman: Columbia southern university was a very convenient school for my busy schedule as working mom. it was extremely easy to apply to and I got accepted the same day I submitted all of my documents. The admissions consulars were extremely helpful and friendly! I loved the quick responses from everyone about the questions that I had about the college and classes. The financial lady that I was working with wasn't very helpful and she took a very long time to respond to me. when she did respond, she was pretty rude and didn't really answer my questions. I understand she had a lot of student's financial documents to work on so it wasn't a very big deal, but when you're trying to start college as soon as possible and get everything you need in line to be able to start classes that next week it would be helpful to get some quicker responses. Sophomore: Jacksonville State University was my backup school because I knew I was going to attend Auburn University. However, after visiting Auburn I did not feel any connection to it, and plus the campus was massive! Nevertheless, once my orientation singing and dancing show started at Jacksonville State, I knew I was where I belonged. With Jacksonville I feel more seen and included, not only in my classes and with my professors but also with my peers. Jacksonville State is not a massive college so it is not hard to get lost on campus! Compared to Auburn where I got lost during the tour. On another note, the classroom sizes are also smaller and I believe that this allows for a better connection between the faculty and students. Furthermore, anytime I needed to contact a professor about an assignment or class they were able to respond quickly. Freshman: Great small school, hard to see them do better than they currently are. Fantastic tutoring department for helping students succeed. Small class sizes make it easier for students to communicate with the professors. My personal experience has been overall positive. I am a part of the music department which has been a great set of students and professors. I have enjoyed playing and preforming music. My experience with the math department has been positive so far. My math professor provided a helpful and engaging class plan that made it easy to learn what was needed to pass the class. The English Department has a great Professor in Heather Royse. she made the task of writing essays significantly easier that it usually is for me. The bulk of my time is in the tutoring department as they provide tools for completing work and Assistance where needed. it has been positive so far and i hope it will continue to be....
