Junior: Boomer Sooner! I recently transferred to OU and have loved every single moment. The University of Oklahoma has such a large and diverse population that you cannot fail to find your place here. There are so many colleges, courses, and professors to choose from. There are entire departments dedicated to ensuring the well-being of all students, all you have to do is ask around. There are more than 100 student organizations on campus, cultural, academic, sport-oriented, and religious organizations for students to choose from, and if you feel any of the existing organizations does not cater for your needs, you are allowed to make your own. There is academic advising, peer tutoring, group tutoring sessions, a library database with more than enough information, and office hours provided by professors and teaching assistants among other services to ensure that students are supported to produce the best results at school. Sophomore: I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Oklahoma State University. The professors invest into students and are clearly passionate about their areas of expertise. The school as a whole prioritizes its students by putting on events to get involved, offering academic support such as tutoring, and has an overwhelming sense of school spirit that makes OSU feel like home away from home. It is easy to get involved and meet those with common interests. As far as changes, there is not much that I would like to see different on my campus! One positive change would be increasing the dining options, especially for students with allergies. Additionally, lengthening the hours of operations for the dining halls would be greatly beneficial. Sophomore: Although the University of Tulsa is known for being expensive, they are very generous with scholarships (I myself have managed to pay for the full cost of attendance with their help). The small class sizes are a great way to connect with both classmates and professors, and the relatively small campus size makes it easy to get to closely-scheduled classes. Plus, it's a lot easier to enroll in classes when there are fewer people competing for a spot. As for looks, the campus is beautiful -- it's got a lot of gorgeous flora and excellent sights. I feel like the ambience of the university is a huge factor of why I love attending. There are dozens of resources on campus for pretty much everything, from tutoring to career planning. The academic advisors do a great job making sure students are taking the classes they need to graduate and are interested in. Sophomore: Overall its a pleasant experience here. Relatively small campus so a car isn't needed. The same goes for some of the town since it's a smaller one. The classes are usually small with 20 or less people. It's a cheap yet effective option. Biggest complaint is the availability of spending your meal plans. Unlike some other universities, everything food-related closes around 8. The diner itself isn't even all day; you have to get there at certain periods throughout the day. And on Fridays everything closes earlier (around 5 pm). And you're kind of out of luck if you intend to stay in dorms during holidays since everything will always be closed including the smaller holidays like Fall Break. Sophomore: Northeastern State University is an excellent college to attend. This campus has many friendly faces to meet and outstanding professors. NSU is a perfect size if you want a school that is big enough to offer everything while not feeling too overwhelmed. This college feels like home! The only thing I think this campus lacks is enough parking for housing students. However, this school offers a very diverse setting, which is incredible because not only am I learning new things from my classes, but I am also learning all kinds of cultural things from the friends I have made from attending NortheasternState University. Graduate Student: Oklahoma City Community College was perfect for starting out my journey through college. I completed high school online, and before that I was in a private school. Because of this, I was a little intimidated integrating into a traditional school for the first time. OCCC allowed me to make this transition with no trouble. It truly is like a community in which people care about you and want you to succeed. The classes are smaller which makes it easy to connect with classmates and make friends. The teachers are communicative and make their coursework easy to understand. They provide good study materials and make the course expectations clear. Alum: My experience at OBU was fantastic! It takes time and effort, but you can find a good, supportive group of people there. The students also come with a variety of backgrounds and unique interests. I liked that I could walk to all of my classes. The teachers I had were supportive and personal. The gym had everything you would need. There were plenty of activities to get involved in as well. The environment was very relaxed. My only critique would be the food. Over time (perhaps new management) grilled chicken and other items like it seemed to become more rare or took more effort to get. The food quality didn’t seem quite as good as it used to be and the veal and other good dishes were only available when they had a day where potential future students were visiting. Freshman: Science and Arts is an Incredibly welcoming and fun school. The whole time I've been here I haven't met a single rude staff member and everyone in my dorm building has been sweet and easy to talk to. USAO has the biggest dorms in Oklahoma, so there's no need to worry about sharing a shoe box with your roommate. The classes have been easy to find and all of my professors have been welcoming to the whole class. USAO is a smaller campus so there's no worry about leaving your dorm 20 minutes early to make it too class on time, however there are still tons of fun things to do and you'll always see at least one familiar face at any social gathering. I dropped all my keys on the third day of orientation and my orientation leaders helped me find them and made sure the whole campus was aware of my missing keys and they made me feel a lot better about loosing them and helped me find them in front of Sparks hall.
