Freshman: This is an amazing school! I have met so many unique people here and as an out of state student, everyone is so welcoming. Greek life is pretty popular, but there is still tons to do if that is not your scene. The university does a great job at holding on campus events to get freshmen and honestly anyone involved! I am a nursing major and will say that the chemistry department is slightly lacking in terms of having professors that can adequately teach such rigorous courses. There are ways to get extra assistance though which is very helpful if you actually use it. The dorms are pretty average. The towers definitely have mold in them and provide your average dorm experience, whereas Cross is more of an apartment style dorm. I lived in the towers and loved every crazy moment of it! Graduate Student: Oklahoma City Community College was perfect for starting out my journey through college. I completed high school online, and before that I was in a private school. Because of this, I was a little intimidated integrating into a traditional school for the first time. OCCC allowed me to make this transition with no trouble. It truly is like a community in which people care about you and want you to succeed. The classes are smaller which makes it easy to connect with classmates and make friends. The teachers are communicative and make their coursework easy to understand. They provide good study materials and make the course expectations clear. OCCC is also a very affordable option, which is great when you’re just starting out. It has very helpful resources like the writing center, where people assist you in building upon your language skills. It is easy to find help when you need it. Senior: My experience at Oklahoma City University has been a great one so far! I am a transfer student majoring in Business. When one of my advisors from community college mentioned an institution that offered a great amount of scholarships to business majors, I knew Oklahoma City University was a great fit for me financially. Not only does OCU provide scholarships, but there is a strong connection among the students and professors. The classes are smaller and there is more involvement in discussions. Junior: Southern Nazarene University is a small campus that puts community, commitment, and Christ at the center of its values. No matter a student's athletic status, academic goals, or level of involvement on campus, authoritative figures intentionally pursue each one with the intent of getting them connected with other staff and peers around campus. Professors know each student by name and set aside office time to ensure they are on the track to success. Placing Christ at the center of the school's being allows students to belong to something greater than themselves. It gives students something to believe in, and creates a culture of love for all who'd like to be part of it.
