Honestly, when I began my college search, I never imagined I'd fall so head-over-heels in love with a university - but UVM has truly captured my heart. What stands out the most for me is the sense of community at UVM. From the moment I stepped onto campus, I felt welcomed by the warm smiles and friendly "hellos" from students and faculty alike. Senior: I am going to be a senior in the 2023-2024 school year majoring in criminal justice and criminology. Overall I have had an amazing experience at Castleton University, the professors are amazing and so much fun to work with, there are so many opportunities to get involved on campus such as the Student Government Association which I am a part of as the Chief Justice of Student Court, there is the Multicultural Club and Spectrum Pride which are two very inclusive clubs, and if there isn't a club on campus that interests you you can create your own very easily! While Castleton does have many options for food when it comes to dietary restrictions, as someone with celiac disease the staff at all our dinning options have been amazing with working with me to make sure I have food to eat and have even brought in new stuff for me to try. Sophomore: I love Norwich University. They are very welcoming and open to everyone. Whenever I have a question I can email my counselor and she will help me right away. My favorite thing is Norwich's inclusiveness. The school has a large international student section, but they are always included in activities and are always helped. I think that is very important. the departments at the school are very approachable and always willing to help. the friendships you make will lat you a lifetime. that's true about most colleges, but Norwich is different. You meet new students from all around the country and you the. second you meet them it's like you know their whole life story already. You will need friends to lean on in college. The food at the school is pretty good. They try their best for how many students they have to cook for. They have a lot of good options always available. Senior: The academic staff are amazing and will work with students to achieve their goals. Amazing psychology and theatre programs on campus. The campus is beautiful and easy to walk around. The food is decent, served buffet style. Covid certainly took a hit on the student population, but people are coming back. Some professors can be hard to work with, but every college has one or two. Freshman: This is my first year taking any college classes, I am working full time as a LNA (licensed nursing assistant) in the intensive care unit at my local hospital and have nothing but very helpful teachers. I am taking 4 classes to hopefully get into nursing school next fall. The teachers have been so kind and helpful when I need help. If you need help on an assignment they will gladly help you. If you are sick or if something came up with life and you couldn’t complete an assignment they tell you to just get it done as soon as you can. They also will let you redo assignments if you don’t like the grade you received. Although online schooling is very difficult with technology and not being able to immediately get an answer if you are in a class room, the teachers try to help you the best the can through e-mail or even a phone call or text message.
